Here's an idea regarding sorcery

I haven’t really been to the forums much lately, thanks to life and playing around with the Age of Calamitous mod on my server(great mod btw). Also not sure if this has ever been brought up before, so sorry if it has.

With that said, every so often the topic of sorcery comes up, the reasons why we don’t have it, yadda yadda yadda. Correct me if I’m wrong, but last I recall hearing is that sorcery is 90% finished, the only thing they require is animations/artwork. Whenever it’s asked why that’s taking so long, the answer usually given by those defending it is that nobody wants to move there. They almost had a person, but they backed out last minute.

If this is all still true, here’s an idea that’ll not only get sorcery out the door, but also create a lot of hype around the game. Funcom, why don’t you put everything sorcery related into the game, create a dev-kit to give out, and have a competition for all the modders to create the animations/art-work for all the different sorcery-type spells. Just imagine all the different interpretations people could come up with.

Let’s pretend there’s 30 spells. You could have 30 different winners, each with neat animations. You could have 8 winners who have multiples of their animations put in, or even have one person who did such a good job that everyone liked all 30 of their animations.

For a reward, you could either pay them(divided amongst all winners) what you would have paid an animator to do the work, you could put their name in the game credits, you could give them in-game items, I don’t know, that would be up to you. I think it’s a good idea, though, and I’m sure there’s enough modders out there who would like a crack at it.

That would not only create more hype around the game, it would be a great way to bring the community into the game, and it would give everyone what they’ve been wanting for a long time.
