Hey all, At work and wondering if any of you are running corrupted builds with the new update and how are they fairing with the slow regen rates?
Like they did in Age of Sorcery.
Just with all the nerfs from Age of War.
Hey erjoh. PVP Perspective incoming with an update to follow. I’ve spent >95% my time in Corruption builds in the game since their conception in one in several forms (despite the numerous indirect nerfs)
While I haven’t had a chance to dive in, I’ll try to remember to update you with my experience. I forsee stamina management to be rough.
Without gloves of Jhil i think that exhaustion will be brutal. Remember that when Corruption came out stamina costs were 1/4 of what they were pre-update and so still 1/2 as much as they are post-update. Rolling Thrust no longer helps with stamina management, so that’s out too. Steel Thewed, which is required for decent PVP, is now a 3-tap instead of a 4-tap, and the heavy hitting weapons that complimented fighters builds have been nerfed as well (I think of Greatsword hyperarmor removal and Greataxe shield-pierce removal).
All that considered, I would go out on a limb and say that so long as you play a PVP server with q-lock, exhaustion will lead to inescapable death by Glasser- transmogged daggers. For PvP servers with no Q-lock, switch those daggers for Claws or Chakrams of any variant (even after confirmed Blood Chakram nerf). Dagger costs, if halved, will be 5 stamina. With a full stamina build that means about 60 strikes before exhaustion with no break. Yikes.
Again, I’ll circle back for a quick update later, but I forsee that this half-backstep with stamina will put another nail in Corruption’s already nearly closed casket.
i tried all sorts of combinations of corrupted builds
half corrupted, with autorithy, with only hp, with agi, str, ect.
All of them suffered the same problem, too low stamina (not even speaking of hp).
And now, the stamina as increased its value a lot in this patch.
Because if you end up exhausted. you are just a gigant walking piñata.
So unless they buff the stamina in such builds or maybe increase the hp of corrupted items using corrupted builds in PVP is just trolling. Sadly, because i do like the utility of some of those perks.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I’ll play around but the its looking like stamina was fixed at the cost of corrupted builds.
This is not my response yet, but…
Stamina is the true limiter to these builds and while the lower cost sounds like a perk, I assure you it isn’t for us. If corrupt builds only corrupted Health we might be okay, but with stam as well it’s just too much. There are several options I’ve talked about before but I cover most of what’s viable with a few exceptioms like gray lotus here:
All they would need to do is change a few things back or make them exclusive to Corruption (otherwise OP) and we would be golden. Without venturing into “what fits thematically” corrupted perks being added to the other lines could be beneficial if they wanted to change mothing else that exists.
Old Rolling Thrust? That sounds great right now.
Increase the bonus stamina of the Abyssal Armor to 100. Which will end up as 50.
Don’t tie a fix to a specific armor set, even if it does happen to be BiS. That just removes build diversity.
One thing I hate is when games say “yeah, you can run a (magic/stealth/tank/whatever) build. But the only way to do it is using this very specific ugly looking item and using these very specific skills.” At that point they may as well just ditch the whole idea of character creation and force everyone to pick from a roster of prebuilt characters.
This actually would be a fine compensation, but at that point just make Corruption affect stamina less. It would be to the same effect and effectively allow armor diversity like Glurin mentioned.
So got to play in PvE and attacking isn’t too hateful. I’m trained to do a set of light attacks and then reposition and repeat while my golems do heavy lifting but running? Yeah doa really quick. No way I would remove pvp in it. It’s just logistical movements in a pvp setting
After running the field for a bit to get an idea and post an update, it is far harder. 2 people with dagger/claw/chak spam and it’s an automatic RIP. True unbalance unless they give us more ways to get stam, retain stam, or similar. I beat two guys in a 2v1 but it felt like blind luck. It’s possible to win fights, but possible does not necessarily mean truly viable in this case. PVP corruption builds are actually dead until we get thrown a bone. Lotus won’t save you against the AGI spam meta.
Has been like this in the game until Age of Sorcery introduced Agility based weapons.
You were forced to wear specific armor (SL light + Dragonhide) for a long time. No build diversity if you wanted to stay competetive.
Then the next best step to satisfy your brain is to remove corruption penalty on stamina.
