You expressed it much more eloquently than I ever could. Couldn’t agree more.
It’s the worst it’s ever been. You can only roll four times no matter how much stamina you have, but you can attack many more times than a player can dodge. Rolling is pretty much the worst thing you can do in this game now PvP-wise. If you’re in a situation where you have to roll, then you’ve already made a mistake.
I’ve started just running around with a small group with high stamina and fast swinging weapons and fully gear players just can’t contend with being out numbered against naked players.
I totally get your frustration, that stamina exhaustion can be a real challenge in PvP! It would definitely be nice if there was a way to regain stamina when getting hit. That small tweak could make a huge difference in how the game feels during intense fights. Hopefully, the developers might consider adjusting it in the future to balance things out more. Keep pushing, though – you’re learning from every match!
well if you want to roll 6 times you can just use light armor.
5 times medium
4 times heavy.
personally i like the changes but like LostBrythunian said, the worst part is the lack of hyper armor this has made dagger spam really powerfull.
to me it does not make much sense that players with str builds have the same hyperarmor than agi users.
this is one of the reason why its agi meta.
Stamina/grit has gained so much value, agi already gives you some stamina, and in every pvp build you MUST have 15 points in agi.
plus dagger sparm interrupt your attacks forcing you to roll.
My opinion is that your armor is negated in a dodge roll. Yes you can do it to avoid the effects of a combo but it will cost you a full strength hit damage to do so.
Seems to me that its the dodge, itself, that is the issue and not so much the stamina effects so address that elephant. Make dodges hurt because they should. You let your guard down to do a ‘hail mary’, jump-out-of-the way move. If anything lands on you when doing that, it needs to hurt not be ignored.
So… Further punish armour builds?
No, thank you. Heavy armor already sucks enough.
The roll isn’t the problem, it’s an extremely visible symptom of the problem.
That being a disjuncted understanding of combat by those making modifications to the stamina system.
Rolls are required because hyper armour is still gone except for a couple slow/short range weapons.
Thus faster weapons always win.
But they always win because the servers official PvP is hosted on are manky and janky. Lag, latency, and an unholy host of performance issues mean target lock is almost a must.
Well, actually…
Target lock is a very important crutch because the hit/harm boxes of enemies and attacks are often only barely aware of the existence of where the graphical display says a weapon/attack and target are.
But hit and harm box issues can be worked around by weapons that have much more favourable harm boxes and rolling to mess with the hit box.
However, they aggravate more precise or deliberate attacks and this mess punishes one heavily as they become stun locked.
It isn’t one thing.
It cannot be a singular thing when it is all things.
The meta of this game isn’t about being good at fighting. It’s about knowing what weapon/build exploits the current jank.
This has always been true, undermesh and flying bases are simply the same situation, but writ in stronghold size rather than duel size.
However, it’s true on all levels.
But perhaps that is how one demonstrates they are good at the game.
System mastery.
And in this system, that means relentlessly exploiting the hard baked in jank.
Sure it gets boring playing only meta. But provoking some insipid little excrement to rage quit almost makes up for it.
Well, it used to.
But between all the baked in beetles and soup sandwich approach to weaving the spaghetti code…
Meh.
Is the game fun?
Is this current stamina system a pleasure to interact with?
Would you pay money to do this?
This one thinks it has the fine aroma of a dumpster, left in the summer sun, behind a restaurant whose menu items of fowl are better called foul, and create a perfect circle when scavengers come to loot and feast on the soggy and stale flesh of their own fallen kin, embalmed with too much salt and sugar.
This is not praise for the Age of War stamina system either. That has the distinct perfume of the fishmonger that time forgot, but the microbes didn’t. Piscene flesh so foul even those whose diet revolves around unfiltered Garum from temu would turn their noses aside at it.
But full marks for consistency.
Truly a stamina system that belongs in a game where we bake bread in a smelter while a perfectly good oven sits neglected in corner, used only to salt meat. Because dehydration makes one hit harder and faster…
Sorry to say this, but you are wrong.
1:24 in the video, you can see him being low on stamina, getting hit and still regaining stamina.
So this was a thing and it was GOOD. And it is especially nowadays needed because of the quick dagger spam with target lock. Its low damage, so you can tank a few hits to regain stamina.
