I do not know if the problem is on Steam’s end, or Funcom’s, but Steam has not automatically updated this game when new mod versions are pushed for weeks now.
Not just myself, but practically everyone I know in my community has found auto-update to be entirely busted. Anytime a mod updates we have to manually unsubscribe and re-subscribe to it before the latest version will download.
In short, Auto-Update for Conan Exiles is currently about as ‘automatic’ as a musket. I would appreciate any known fixes.
Funcom has nothing to do with how mods are updated. The mods are 3rd party .pak files uploaded on Steam Servers.
The game does not get an update when a mod update is released.
Not sure what the issue is for you but Pippi updated today and all I did was to update my server, steam had already downloaded the mod update for me. I didn’t need to re-sub.
I can’t really help with any solution to this problem but if anything doesn’t download for me for this or another game, usually restarting steam fixes it for me.
This is something I found using google. It is written for another game but it is a general troubleshooting guide.
In addition to the feedback from @Narelle above. I saw a reference in a discord forum to clearing the Steam Downloads cache (right-click Steam, click on Downloads, click on the ‘Clear Download Cache’ button at the bottom of the screen.
It took a little while and then took a while reloading a steam update and then worked without issue.
The suggestion was made that depending on what your settings are for downloading mod updates Steam can get confuzzed and by clearing the Steam Cache, you’re clearing all the cobwebs out - or giving it a hard kick in the rear. Worked for me. Made a good cuppa whilst waiting.
I had no updates for mods in the past 1 week, so I checked my mods and there were updated ones that the steam didn’t update automatically. Aaaand the game went dead of course.
Only thing I did was turning off all mods then turning them back, and steam immediately updated 6 mods.
Yeah, Steam can b way too helpful sometimes. I also found that with some really large mods (and updates) that Steam either had a hissy fit or was sulking and messed up so it would restart, get confused and restart again and then try updating another game. A mess. With large mods I usually delete the local pak file(s) anyway and then resubscribe. That always works.
