Again, think about your own words “expected sales figures”. Even if true which I would challenge you to provide, that says nothing about the relative revenue to before the new system.
So in other words, you have literally no proof and refuse to even attempt to provide any and thus you are simply going to just brush aside anything that would contradict that which you wish to believe so that you can continue to live in your little fantasy. Great, thank you for clearing that up for everyone.
I have the feeling that the way they intend to “address” it is not the way you are hoping for since they intend on “addressing” it by comparing what other games charge for similar items. I expect that they will come back with some PR statement of how the pricing and all is in line with industry standards if not lower but they will continue looking for ways to improve or they will simply stay silent and wait for the storm to pass. What truly matters is whether or not they hit the targets.
Prices are higher. Does that need further proof? Kinda… been a thing for the last couple years in the news… in case anyone missed anything else big, there’s trouble in eastern europe.
I understand what you’re saying and definitely am not expecting them to go back to the old model, especially at the old pricing to be honest. As I said earlier if the price increase actually reflected the reality of current inflation I’d be fine with it, maybe grumble a bit if they went to the high end of the increase, which is about 3 times more.
And that’s the crux of the matter. They definitely would have just ignored the issue entirely if they were hitting their sales targets.
My personal belief is that you would stop being my friend if I disclosed that I have either fiduciary (other than Guides) or personal interests in Conan Exiles and/or Funcom’s success. They are owned by a giant corporation, and my “simping” for them would be a breaking point for you. I want to just say this isn’t what has established my ethics, they existed long before I met you … but I do understand penalties for ethical violations. Emphatically, I would have every reason to approve of your banishment of me, and my public dressing-down. Worse yet, Ghosting.
I thought that was important to note, and it ties into credibility: when you, CodeMage say you object to the price, we whole cloth take it as “he objects to the price.” No ulterior motive, no subtext.
Same with me. Reasonably, a Dragonbone Katana should be south of 200, and it should come with 3-5 geegaws, like a “custom sling.” This would really get me juices flowin’.
That’s why assessment of others as far as judgements on whether they are good or bad people isn’t at the particular moral stances but on direction they are moving. We all stumble through life and the question isn’t about where you are at right now but are you making yourself or the world a better place than yesterday? There are tons of moral grey areas in that but if your vector is in the right direction, we are good. It’s also why there is a sizable chunk of “virtuous” folk that I wouldn’t touch with a 10 ft pole…yeah you walk the walk but it’s completely out of self-interest and would flip on a dime if you needed to. In contrast there are ex-convicts that I would trust to protect my family without hesitation.
the games potential is unreal can definitely be the best survival game if the fix all the bs happening from performance, exploits, bans, hacks . It’s counter productive and sole reason why the pop never sustains or grows. Sad to see because the games pvp is super good and fun .
Don’t we all want CE to be the best thing it can be? Don’t we want the game to keep getting developed? If people actually think the forums are somehow a motivating factor in their development of the game (something I deeply question), doesn’t that mean giving FC the benefit of the doubt and not lumping them in with every negative stereotype of greedy corporations? Isn’t it just as easy to be optimistic about the reasons, the goals and their intentions? Turns out its not easy. It’s easier to be cynical. That’s why you don’t see books on how to fail; its not motivating. It doesn’t inspire. People want tomorrow to be better than yesterday.
I don’t question your’s or a couple others’ desires in this regard. I do however see a sizeable chunk of people in the forum that actively want the game to fail. I for one refuse to be in the squishy middle. There is nothing high ground about that. Nothing noble. I will always put my stake in the ground and defend it because if I go squishy, just pack me up for the retirement home cuz I’ve given up. Give me a spoonful of oatmeal and an IV cuz I’m dead on the inside at that point.
This is proved by @Croms_Faithful and Multigun too. My contributions to this Forum are but those of a toilet-bug compared to them, so I have no personal delusions. If I were a rotten person I would capitalize on the state of the game and Funcom’s perception by posting never-ending rants on YT, but I’m not like that. I look at Conan Exiles as a wounded eagle that needs time, attention and nurturing. After that, it’ll be ready for broadcast!
I guess the pointed thing to say is I’m not related to, dating, personally involved with, in love with: anyone involved with the game. I also do not directly benefit from the success of the game. As long as you can say that, we’re talking on an even playing field.
Just imagine if Madden charged $10 for a whole team for many years, and then suddenly started to drip-feed them out at $8 per player. Or $5 for a set of cleats. I think people would be rioting in the virtual stands.
Now I havent played Madden in probably 20 years but… I just assumed they did that now ![]()
Might not want to look at Madden 23… I didn’t see all the details but…
interesting and elucidating way of framing things. And the response you got in regards to it, or lack thereof, is very telling.
Really? 3000% Inflation was a thing in the News the last couple of years? On which planet exactly was that?
A few details. FC’s costs, what are they? Labor. That labor has all that additional cost rolled into it. Those prices on the old dlc are from 2018 when FC was in financial straights. They could operate on a slimmer budget out of necessity. Just like any business that is getting its feet on the ground, they likely had to do it under tighter constraints. Now we are getting more frequent game updates ie higher costs. They have to be competitive in salaries in similar industries to retain talent. The cost of borrowing is higher so again, they have to compensate (no big business that is publicly traded pays salaries on money coming in the door, its done on credit). Add all that up, and it doesnt surprise me in the least.
So, officially, you do not have any connection to Funcom(or Tencent), or a relationship or connection to anyone who works at Funcom(or Tencent), nor any other financial interests in Funcom(or Tencent) and your defense of what some may consider predatory monetization and price gouging, given the severe disparity in prices, is purely the opinion of a customer?
Except that Funcom had only their own financial backing in 2018 and their own ability to borrow (which was extremely limited due to their financial situation).
Now Funcom is owned by Tencent who can dump whatever amount of money they want into Funcom so if they wanted to raise salaries to be more competitive, they can do that. Easily. If they wanted to spend more on updates, they can do that. Easily. Tencent would not even notice the costs that Conan Exiles would bring to them. So to claim that any 3000% increase in offered items is justified is grasping at straws at the VERY BEST scenario. Please stop.
You claim that thing like eggs have gone up on price. Show me any grocery store that has increased the price of eggs in your area by 3000%. In all honesty, show some actual data to support your point of view or concede that you cannot. No one is claiming that SOME increase in price is not valid, or even justified. But 3000%? NOTHING has gone up by that amount and you bloody well know it.
Okay, now I know that you don´t have any Idea what are you talking about.

" Funcom Touts the Most Profitable Year in Its History"
The company I work for makes billions in revenue. Billions. And still, labor is on credit. Thats one of the ways a company achieves billions.
You could have the most profitable year you ever had with $1M likely. That would put them out of business. But yeah, I have no idea what I’m talking about.
Yes, you have no idea what you are talking about when you talk about “financial difficulties” in the most successful year in the company’s history with growth of 78% in operating profit.
The evidence is complete. Maybe you should also read the quarterly report…
