Did we ever get clarification on which weapon groups are moving to agility based weapons outside of bows? I’m assuming it’s all ranged (which does that included 1H spears?) and daggers but I can also see katanas and short swords.
The one I am really on the fence with is 2H spears since I can easily see them being either type of weapons.
It would be great to see a game where bows actually depend on strength for once. Nimbleness may help you reload faster, but when it comes to drawing a war bow, one needs to be strong. Remember Odysseus?
Close combat weapons should be dependent on both strength and agility. All of them. Some are more strength-based, others more agility-based, but if you’re weak, you won’t hurt an armored opponent and tire quickly, and if you’re clumsy, you’re dead before your lack of strength becomes a thing to be concerned about.
A question that’s probably beyond most people these days, sadly.
Anyway, just for the sake of those who may not be aware, that’s why the fantasy trope of bows being a better option for women is, well, fantasy. A medieval style bow means ballpark 100 pounds or more draw weight, and that’s actually a little on the low end. Some estimates go a whole lot higher. That basically means you need enough upper body strength to pull something apart with 100 pounds of force. And do it repeatedly if you want to fire more than one arrow. Even with modern bows used for hunting, you’re still looking at roughly 50, 60 pounds or so on average.
Also makes all those movie scenes with characters being surrounded by archers with bows drawn for five minutes a bit silly.
