Would it be possible to level thralls with fragments of power or tablets of power? (lock it behind a quest maybe, or make it a purchasable skill)
After leveling 100+ thralls, it really becomes the kind of grind that causes you to play less and less. it would also give us a use for those items, after we max out our level and skills.
I still think they should get XP regardless of weather or not they are following you. Fighting for your life is fighting for your life. Be it out in the world or at your front door.
No way, the game is way too easy as it is now. There has to be something you achieve by actually playing. Just because you feel it’s a grind the gameplay shouldn’t be diminished for other players once again, i’ve played well over 5000h and i’m completely fine with leveling up the thralls. It doesn’t take long and with the world bosses and other creatures we have today there’s no danger even to the lower level thralls so there’s no need to level them up instantly. And against other players even max level thralls are worthless these days anyways.
To the extent that your enslaved NPCs die very quickly during purges, given the time spent leveling them, it is indeed desirable to allow passive leveling of these enslaved NPCs.
If Conan Exile is just about enslaving NPCs over and over again, leveling them up and then starting again and again, the game quickly becomes a chore rather than fun.
A lot of content is hidden behind a stupid and nasty farm (farm for farm’s sake).
In addition to this, the permanent loot lottery which forces you to restart a dungeon several times or collect NPCs because the object, the NPC you want, does not pop.
Allow passive or purchase levels reduced the feeling of chore and permeted to deal with losses during purges.
It would be awesome if your thralls could gain xp while not following. Maybe at like 80% reduction if not following you. The differance would be like have a personal trainer (the pc) and just learning as you go.
Here’s an interesting litmus test for those trying to say that leveling thralls needs to stay in some form as a bit of a ‘challenge’. Pick your favorite method of leveling thralls. The one you would use if you had around 20 thralls to level in a weekend.
Now take the thrall out of the equation. Now take the experience gained out. Now take any potential loot or treasure out. Would you still engage in that method for the fun of it? Is it something you could login and do right now without any reward?
If the answer is no, then you too have an issue with leveling thralls. The ‘challenge’ in a game should NEVER being doing something that is unfun, in order to do the fun parts. You don’t wait to play the game.
And yes I understand this can apply to many parts of the game and those are their own topics.
The issue with leveling thralls is that it is simply time. Time you MUST take. Let’s face it, for many thralls being level 0 is a vulnerability. Its not a matter of if they will die and need replacing, but when. Your goal is to get them somewhat leveled up so they can simply survive. Using a level 0 thrall in normal activities is never a great idea.
What I think they should probably do (and this is one of the ideas I’ve considered) is the thralls should only have three levels. These three levels take as long to obtain as the 20 levels typically gained or even longer. The tradeoff here is the attributes normally gained from leveling the thrall simply starts with. Instead of gaining new attributes per level, they gain a perk. So they still get their three perks.
What this would achieve is those who still want to grind their thralls can still do so. Those who don’t want to grind dozens of thralls won’t feel like they ‘have’ to. The thrall will have the health and attributes to be useable right out of the gate. But those who do level their thralls, those thralls will have an edge.
But now you have a system where broken thralls are more or less useable as soon as they are placed for whatever content their tier and ability is normally rated for without some arbitrary grind phase.
20 thralls in a weekend ? No chance - maybe cannibals / exiles with fast leveling, but maybe cimmerians ?
I don’t know where you guys exp , I still use the reliable skeletons in UC in EL for leveling.
20 Cimmerians is more like a full time job for a week or more, and epically boring.
The fact that a few months back you could have a Dalinsia team within an hour of starting didn’t bother anyone much.
Personally, I’m all for it. Some not too cheap potion that gives maybe x3, x4 to level up. You just trade raw materials ( again, I’d like to emphasize it can’t be anything easily obtainable) for time.
But such debates are pointless anyway , FC either won’t do it or if he does it will be in the Bazaar for a hefty price
I think the bazaar for mats is viable. Hefty prices are about scarcity. I thought we would be able to buy levels, however. I don’t have the time for gambling runs.
I ,for one, hate leveling thralls. It’s a freaking pain and grind that just gets tedious. Even with war party active (which cuts your time in half), it’s still just time sink and cements playing a game as a chore vs enjoyment.
It’s not skill to run around killing the same thing hundreds of times to level thralls.
Heck it takes longer to level thralls to 20 than level you to 60. Think about that.
who was talking about paying? I was talking about some alchemical elixir - which makes the most sense to me …e.g. “lotus extracts that sharpen the senses of fighters and reduce fatigue making training more effective”
I like a system of artificing something with rare stuff. Something like 5 FOP, 20 armor scraps, 1 heart of the desert and soup…because who doesn’t like soup?
Paying to level up is not a bad idea. I’m not saying to change leveling immediately. I’m saying there is 65 slots for followers for a solo, and leveling each and every one sucks. I’ve watched the logs and seen how fast each one goes down when I was raided by the alphas. I’m saying that sucks to pay that much and get wiped.
The logical answer may be to make Challenges include followers in gaining/sharing xp.
