Honestly I don’t have an issue with the over all height of the fabric part of the awning, but the side supports are way to low.
Typically you don’t want to have to duck under an awning to stand under it or enter the door they are keeping the rain off of. Unfortunately it seems like that is exactly what you need to do with the ones we currently have. My suggestion would be to just make them a foot taller.
I mean attaching to walls and other issues would be nice too but really just make them taller.
