The update is still to come and i really need a reason to play! There for i will start a new character and try to defeat every boss this game has, to make every single dungeon, build a tier 3 base, become a sorcerer, accept purge and finally gather the necessary to escape the exile lands.
I beg you to participate, the only rules are…
1)Only bows and arrows!
2)No followers except a horse if you wish.
It’s easy and it’s not! Accepting a purge just as an archer wont be that easy i guess, we’ll see .
My highest goal and the absolute reason i need your participation, is to make devs understand why it’s necessary to gain back a percentage of arrows from our prey.
So let’s start!
I admire your dedication. I, however, will not be doing all that lol…
Besides, we’re building a purge base right now, so that takes priority. Now that we have more information on how it works, we’re finally doing what everyone else was already doing all season long.

Day one lvl 27

It’s so damn difficult to lvl up, it really brought me back memories from my first days on Conan exiles.
I start it really relaxed to be honest, since i had no limitations i didn’t felt to rush it, so i picked a spot and build a small cabin…
My next move normally was to start grinding materials for benches, yet with flint and bone arrows the battles with crocodiles seemed big and with rock noses forever. So i had to act differently. Plus i always start Croms faithful so i had to go for Ymir, these arrows are really decent, better than iron arrows, so i start my journey to knowledge. I passed from Sepermeru of course, it always have decent arrows in chests and for a moment i think that it would be better to build again here for starters, but no. It’s too clise, i can understand the necessity if this town on a looting challenge, but now simply no. On the way i tried to lvl up with gazelles and anything that could be one or two shoted, but in vein, you get so little that’s making this effort more like shooting practice than anything else. After some traveling i reached our Giant friend who call us little dreams
Quik footed is an amazing perk, you can climb almost everything with 0 points in grit
This bow has low dmg and durability to be called legendary, but passing from the hand made bow to this one the feeling is very different, with this bow you can have decent fights even with rock noses, so even low lvl you feel better holding a piece like it. Other than that, i always climb for this bow, now it was time to use it too

I fixed Ymirs altar, i went for shards and feathers, (omg how many years i have to go for feathers in Darfari lands, i cannot recall) to return home and fix decent arrows. I went for a couple raids gathered and some materials to fix benches and i call it off for today. It’s been years that after 5 hours of gameplay i am still lvl 27. But i have a horse

@Winthor, @MarcosC, try it, you’ll love it.
See you tomorrow guys!
You’re completely crazy!
When you beat the Wine Cellar with only a bow and no thrall, you have to post a video, because it will be the most epic stunt you’ll pull on this game.
Buddy, you MUST put these challenges on YouTube. You could open the eyes to so many people who see this game as one-dimensional.
My fear is what i haven’t done already, this boss is been done with archery and you know it.
I haven’t done, jhil bosses and warmakers final stage. Then it’s one area that’s really hard even normally, but all the bosses there are invisible, both the black creatures and the Avalon!
I cannot fight them invisible .
But anytging thats visible i will!
Planking the walk, eh? You rascal, you.
Playing an archer gets expensive pretty quickly. Sure, you can get lots of low-tier arrows as random loot, but with the weapon “rebalancing” you also need many more of them to get things done. And if you’re solo and without thrall, you won’t have time to aim your heavy shots against bosses etc., so you’ll be shooting rapid fire all the time.
Minions are worst, not bosses. Minions are running on you in multiple numbers so you dodge (not spam) all the time and shoot a light. That’s why on boss fights with minions the fourth perk in agility is mandatory. Wish me luck
I am pretty sure I never saw anyone beating the Wine Cellar with just a bow. But I know for sure I will laugh my pants of if I see a video of you trying it, especially if you also capture your comments while at it! Theoretically, it’s possible, but it will be extremely hard once the wights are summoned. You’ll need the best bow and a gazillion arrows!
You see, the red mother’s reach was nerfed. With it and the best arrows, it could be viable. You could put a wight down in 3 or four shots. So it was a matter of keeping in movement while having high situational awareness. I once tried arrows on Thag and they didn’t do much on him, not even poison, not explosive, etc, even hollowbone just made a small amout of dmg. They chip away very small amounts of hp. This was a few months ago. Once he summons the wights, it becomes a real challenge. So I grabbed whatever weapon I had and put an end to it.
If you actually try it, @stelagel , you need to upload a video with your comments! It doesn’t matter if you fail. I know it will be extremely funny!
How about this: you can only kill bosses with a bow, but everything else you can kill with any weapon. Sounds fun enough and it won’t take you forever.
It was in this topic
https://forums.funcom.com/t/how-to-make-archery-perfect/212909/64
Age of sorcery. It took me some arrows but it was really an easy fight. Now i believe it will be way easier. The tough part is that now i won’t run the dungeon, i will try to do it all. So i see about 500 arrows in this dungeon for fun. And this time i will invest in star metal and dragon bone. It’s not easy to get hollowbone arrows, i need to grind a lot very tough bosses and i don’t think it will be beneficial, since we loose all the arrows we use . So i am not planning to kill each boss more than once. Possibility for hollowbone arrows, about 10 or 20 if i am extremely lucky. So i cannot place hopes in these arrows!
You already killed thag and his minions with just a bow, @stelagel ?
I might have missed that post, because I wasn’t entirely sure it would be possible. Let me check the topic then.
I even answered you “that’s cool”. @stelagel , I’m getting old! I had tottaly forgotten it.
So, that was done already and you say it was easy? You must be a hell of a marksman. I tried it once and it didn’t seem easy at all, but maybe I had the wrong build…
Bows must be doing way more dmg than I thought. But when I tried it, I could only chip away small amounts of hp from Thag and wights were taking a while (the reason I used a melee weapon).
Hum… if you can beat the Wine Cellar, probably you can beat everything with a bow, @stelagel . I will give it a go next time I play the game. I’ll make sure I have a proper build this time!
I just pictured taking down all those skeletons from Thag with just a bow
Please test . I don’t know the proper build for archery. I will definitely need help too. Things have changed from age of sorcery. In single player star metal spawns are difficult, so maybe i will have to choose obsidian for more arrows. We are speaking about thousands of arrows to defeat everything in the map. I would really appreciate the help of @SirDaveWolf about the best archery build.
Full Agility with Precision Strike since enemies will get too close for Dead Shot to have enough value.
Rolling Thrust of course, you roll and power shot, then repeat.
Need the first perk in Strength, Heavy Blows so you hit harder with power shots.
Anything else is up to you, although I do recommend 2 perks in Grit with Endurance.
I also recommend 1 perk in Expertise, because you’re going to carry a lot of arrows and you want your carry weight to be medium or lower in order to benefit from the Armor Penetration from Precision Strike.
With all that, you have used 40 attribute points, and you have 20 more left. You can slap them all into Vitality if you want.
Or you can go Vitality 2 and Grit 4, with Resurgence and Steel Thewed if you rarely get hit; you will have more stamina thus more offensive power, and you cannot get one shot no matter your armor
When i 'll go to the midnight dungeon, the werewolf will hit like crazy. I don’t intend to spam dodge until he howls and of course i cannot use shield. So this dungeon, no matter how handy it will be to do it early for the night vision potions, i will do it after lvl 60. So i am troubling if it will be last stand or steel thewed. I even think to go there with heavy armor so i won’t feel. I know my dodge and my regen will be awful, but not feeling and huge vitality pool seems better choice for this particular boss.
Honestly not sure if you want Last Stand or Glutton, I would pick Glutton for this boss if he keeps hitting
I think this is probably the one boss you’ll use the light attack more than the power shot, simply because you don’t have long enough time windows
Yeah, the werewolf might be a tough nut to crack.
You are a certified mas0chist @stelagel ! man, I can only imagine you talking through the whole ordeal to burst in laughter.
