The blackheart!

Often we gain recipes or corrupted legendary gear that we call useless and stock it in the piles of chests with other “useless”.
Are they really useless however?
Can a player depend in this gear and succeed on the exile lands by winning every opponent alone?
Can a player defeat all the lvls of purges without gas arrows, by using this gear only and with agility totally banned?
So let’s start and see!

Challenge clarifications!

Agility totally banned not a single point is allowed.
Legendary gear only corrupted, all the rest legendary are banned.
Only crafted weapons (non epic) allowed until you’ll gain or craft a corrupted one.
Sorcery is fully allowed.

Thrall or pet assistance is allowed, but like you, epic gear is banned only corrupted gear is allowed legendary or crafted. (for better clarification, your thralls are allowed to use non epic or legendary gear except corrupted which is allowed, you can use bulked plating however or master weapon fittings).

In purges orbs and arrows are banned, the only bow allowed is the Abyssal since it’s corrupted. If you wish to use archers they cannot use epic or legendary bows and arrows. Non epic arrows i consider as nothing greater than ivory arrows. Of course noxious arrows and star metal are highly banned for purges.

Objectives.

Defeat all the purge lvls.
Find and slay all the camps.
Defeat all the world bosses.
Finish all the dungeons.
Gather all the artifacts to create the keystone and if you wish, end your session.

My go to is to gain the soonest possible the blackheart recipe, a tier 4 blacksmith and use it with Abyssal armor.

Start twitching it from tomorrow on single player decadent for clarity reasons. As i said decades of times i ain’t a streamer neither i look for fans, i twitch just to show how i do it and i don’t care for humiliating decisions, i test things i never done and i try to learn from my mistakes.

Starting tomorrow!

Ps. You can use epic or legendary tools, this is not banned of course.

The first 2 hours passed really slow.
I know that i could use any crafted weapon that’s way easier and more efficient than the 2h sword but somehow although i started with mace on the very first attacks i got bored with the beef of this weapon in this patch and i went straight to the worst of this patch which is no other than the great sword. Tbh that was the reason i started this session.
This weapon has accepted literally blows under the belt.
Your character while doing combos is self staggering in animation that even dodge doesn’t work to get you out of this unfortunate situation.
Then the special attack which is the most exiting part of this weapon is consuming over 120 stamina points…
Sad!
A great reminder that 2h sword is the symbol of this game while Conan is holding it with one hand like the freaking lying Bastard.

So 2h sword in this game needs big love and attention from devs. Somehow, without being complaining about that, katana has accepted way more love and attention than any other 2h weapon and the last patch “traps” are simply ridiculous, they shouldn’t exist either.
These ridiculous traps against katana must be removed (while using the weapon you warp in the middle of the opponents to kill you since before they didn’t stand a chance against. Or the fatality trap… Ridiculous).
So closing this part of feedback with the wish that devs will consider the non necessary mobility with mandatory to reclaim stamina. When i don’t move i MUST regain stamina, the combo mechanism is outstanding and allows magnificent style while fighting.
Stop making me dodge or move to gain stamina, allow me to fight with style thank you!

Back to the challenge.
Playing without agility and without legendary weapon in your first two hours the game goes really slow. Not unpleasant, but slow. This in one hand is not wrong, what makes it wrong is that this wouldn’t happen with agility even without the use of legendary weapon, agilty is correct however, strength ain’t. So one suggestion here would be to allow less stamina consume on fully strong players (20 points in strength hidden perk or not hidden).

Anyway that’s what my first 2 hours with greatsword triggered for feedback. More to come the next days.

Thralls cannot use corrupted weapons. All corrupted weapons will apply a 0 damage debuff multiplier when equipped by a non-player.

That’s the challenging part , so only crafted non epic remains isn’t it?
Keep them alive!!!

Tried the fitting that reduces stamina use? Though it sounds like you may not be far enough along to make one.

At one time I would have sworn Conan’s Atlantean Sword used less stamina than normal great swords. Possibly due to being lighter. I never bothered to actually test it to see however and even if that was true then it may not be true now.

There’s also the catch of needing the recipe for it…

To satisfy my curiosity I made a new character and played to the point where I could make Conan’s sword and a Turanian 2 hand sword.

While Conan’s sword is lighter it actually uses more stamina for a full heavy combo. 120 stamina versus 84 for the Turanian.

I assume, if this is actually intended, it’s to balance out Conan’s sword for having 1 more damage.

Level 14 and have to be 21 to make a standard, non dlc, iron greatsword for testing. Not sure I’m that curious.

I do think the increased stamina use for two hand swords is to balance out the ability to kill large groups of NPCs at once with them.

Edit: Iron greatsword uses the same amount of stamina as the Turanian. Also noticed that while Conan’s sword has more damage than the Turanian it has less pen. That should be where the balancing lies. Therefore Conan’s sword using more stamina is a bug or oversight. That’s the low level non epic version of it. No idea if the epic version would be the same.

2h swords cannot kill large groups of npcs, while using it, your combo will stop, you’ll be staggered and die before you understand it. 2h swords are what @SirDaveWolf use to say “very slow” and he was correct. Sword of Crom could make the difference back then, even in pvp, combined with the old perk of rolling thrust and the unspeakable dmg the special does. I kinda wish never to mention this test (not that the pvp community won’t find it anyway sooner or later ) because pvp start using it and we got what we have now, a nerf to the ground.

If you wish to enjoy now 2h sword fights brother you have to invest on crashing swings, blackheart and Abyssal armor since it gives you +10 strength on each armor piece and a tier 4 blacksmith can make a crafted weapon better than all the legendaries exist in the game (kinda ).

My effort is to help 2h swords to get what other weapons give. A user should feel secure and excitement while using this weapon. Right now this weapon lacks a lot against others it’s more than a tweak that it needs in my opinion.

But!!!

It’s just my opinion! If yours or anyone else’s contribute then the feedback will be correct and by all means we don’t have to agree.

So thanks a million for any test you’ll do, really, it means a lot to me brother.

And thank you for reminding me for the “forgotten useless upgrade”, i will definitely use it, it’s very very appreciated :sign_of_the_horns:.

Two hand sword is definitely easy to interrupt. I see that as the tradeoff for the large AOE damage they do. It’s all about the timing.

Now we could hash out exactly what two hand swords need to 10 decimal points of precision but I don’t think anyone’s listening at this point.

Oh they do, they do! Because you see no active response don’t dishearten your efforts of feedback.
If they decide to do something again it will be done silently without giving you anything else than a general credit to the Community for giving feedback. And it’s correct!
Other than that we are not here to become Asuras anymore lol, we are here because we love the freaking game and it’s community.

I ain’t “optimistic” my dear brother neither delusional or selfish. What i mostly reported-wished in years have seen it happen in game and i am more than great full.

As for the game is dying?

It will die when WE abandon it, only then!

I really started the game with the logic that i will play the session with the “worst” weapon of the game.
And i really thought that not using agility will be devastating.
After 12 hours of playing only with great sword i have to admit that i was wrong, very wrong.
I was really lucky in Sepermeru to find the only necessary crafter for this session…

After this find getting the blackheart recipe was no problem and i may finally find out after all these years why 5 rusted keys (maybe i am wrong, didn’t check it the other way) since i could open the exit door without fighting the last boss yet the recipe was obtained.
I managed to get the inner sanctum keys with just a Darfari simple armor and a perfected steel great sword without a single point of agility and less than 50 lvl. It may sounds nothing big, but what’s made it nothing big was the staggering swings. It’s a must in my opinion while playing great sword. It makes you a lethal machine.
Now i go around with the Abyssal armor and the blackheart…

I am a bit clumsy still, trying to find my battle balance with low pool of stamina, but this combination with a little training is by far very stylish and extremely lethal.

I know that fighting alone the King with this gear is clearly a suicide mission, it will take me lots of time and effort to defeat this beast.

I also know that defeating purges over lvl 7 will be extremely challenging too but not impossible.

But i have to say that i enjoy the fact that i made this choice.
And @Pugilist with Abyssal armor and Blackheart you slice over 500 hp to many bosses and minions, it’s insane brother

Have to admire your tenacity. I messed with the cursed weapons a bit long ago before sorcery existed. Pairing them with the abysmal armor is tempting.

I always assumed there were 5 rusted keys for only 4 rooms just in case you took to long in one of the rooms and the door shut with you still inside.
