The game is to dark for me

The problem I have with the game atm is brightness. Indoors it is very dark no matter the time of the day but this is the case for me as well outdoors to the point that I stop playing and wait for the night to pass when I am outside.
I play on medium/low quality with maxed gamma.
On that part can you give pop ups on what the different options mean? What does Luman - G1 Quality or Post Processing do?

it is far to dark and lamps and torches don’t do anything really

Well, the illumination intensity at the source is good, but the lighting distance needs to be extended. Right now, illumination from lighting sources (especially indoors) is too short to properly light up an interior room.

I’ve also noticed a difference in torches. In the Executioner’s Cave, there are a few torches. They are very dim. If I place a protected torch next to a ‘game placed torch’, the protected torch outshines the same area by quite a bit. Its still not enough, as I need multiple torches very near one another to get a good “lit up area”. But protected torches are too dim and ‘game placed torches’ are VERY too dim.

I agree with the game being too dark.

As a workaround: I fiddled around with the settings on my monitor. That helped a lot. Maybe your monitor can help, too!

In my game, the outdoor shadows (the ones cast by the sun) move in this weird choppy way, almost like the hand of an old clock ticking forward instead of moving smoothly.

My setup is pretty low-end, so I’m not sure if this also happens on stronger PCs or if it’s just performance-related on my side.

Crank up your gamma to 2.8. It helped me out

Very dark and very over saturated, it reminds my of he age of sorcery at night but worse.

The color correction in the game was done by a complete noob, or AI, they simply turned up the saturation and contrast parameters to the maximum. As a result, using a beautiful and promising engine, they made a design craft from the era of games from the early 2000s with a disgusting picture. We have to raise the gamma to the limit.
Besides this:

  1. Why such large inventory slots?
  2. Why did you change the usual colors of objects?
  3. Blue portal color and yellow transfer stones, what is this? Policy? Support of one state? And the blocking of players from Russia seems to hint.

Uhm… That’s most certainly not the intent. Projecting much?

Same experience on 9800X3D, 5070 Ti and 32gb Ram.

Prior to the update to UE5, the sun and moon traversed the sky smoothly.

What we see now is the result of a timed “tick” rate positional change.

It’s dark for me as well. I can barely see a thing.

One thing I’ve noticed has changed in Conan Enhanced, if that the light of the day follows the sun.

In UE4, the sunlight was always shining from the west. Regardless of the position of the sun in the sky.

In UE5, the sunlight actually depends on the position of the sun.

Which might seem neat, but the game has come out too shadowy and dark.

The effect of being indoors with windows all around is the same effect as being deep underground.

My base is too dark and lighting is barely doing anything to improve it.

And that’s a dangerous precedent for the game. In years past, clans would put up torches and lighting sources across their base in as many places as possible – not because they needed better lighting – but to lag out anyone who came to their base. It turns out, the multitude of flicker torch animations put a real strain on computers (making PvP difficult). Now, its almost as if the game is encouraging us to use this same technique, not for PvP, but simply to see what we’re doing.

EDIT: I would recommend players filing a bug report on this issue.

Bug reports for Conan Exiles Enhanced must be sent here: https://funcom.helpshift.com/hc/en/5-conan-exiles/contact-us/

Certain lighting conditions the game can look good, But the lighting feels very flat, looks like the sand is moist and watered

Compared to UE4

The colour palette seems really off overall.

The jungle also has this odd yellow filter, and a place like the Silkwood with the spiders used to be grey and atmospheric, now it’s bright… and yellow.

It’s supposed to be dark. You’re supposed to be able to see less in darkness.

I’ve played a similar game on UE 5 before, and it was a some kind of remake of CE. And it was all the same: terrible contrast, black shadows, a dark sky with a lantern-like sun that blinds but doesn’t illuminate, the human body looks like a doll smeared with oil, and so on. It seems to be a quirk of the engine itself. I couldn’t play it there, and I can’t play it here because of this stifling gloom. And I completely don’t understand the enthusiasm of many about the “the beauty” of the new version of the game.

lamps and torches are for nothing since Enhanced… Its Dark like no lamps and torches
