So… from this video it seems that many old players and new wanna try out the game. Whats also clear from reading the comments is that many of the curious players end up leveling on fury, only to meet the ghosttown and quit.
Like we’ve said for years now. Make it clear that fury is a niche pvp experience and that Crom is the obvious choice for pretty much anyone else. Also make the server population-info is up to date. It seems the info on character selection screen is manually written and it doesnt reflect current active players on the servers. This is the equivilent of a cafe not flipping the Open/Closed sign when customers wait outside.
Its quite infuriating how many potential players quit because you didnt make this clear as day.
Just watched the video. I love mmos and I honestly didnt know this existed till now (it looks better than a lot of modern mmos lol)
Glad I stumbled onto this, now I know where to start.
Also, I suggest joining a guild (like with most MMOs?) as it makes the game come more alive.
There seems to be several guilds recruiting in Global chat. I joined Guards of Mitra just a few weeks ago, and they are very supportive, but Ive interacted with members of other guilds, and the same is the case for them.
It will give you someone to chat with while you are going thru the progression, and you might even get direct help with harder fights/bosses you meet as you level up.
Thank you both for the kind welcome. Ill definitely sub and check the links out! Im mainly a new world player and I also make content so its nice to see there are people making videos on AoC. I just wish the development for this game wasnt on life support… I assume updates would drive more players to come back to the game but as long as the game is populated, im happy
Btw, it seems like they listened to your suggestion? Crom and Fury both have PVE and PVP labels now
The labels were always there, but the default setting is not set on the wayyyyyyyyyy more active PVE Server Crom (like, 99 vs. 1% population), it is pretty much random. And there is no way to know for a new player. It seems like a playstyle choice, pvp vs pve, when in fact it is a choice between “i want to play the game” and “i want to rage quit after a few hours”.
I think both servers are labeld as medium load.
A beginner starting on fury, leveling his way up alone, to later start gaming with the tiny pvp-scene has the same story arc as the jungle book with mowgli living with the animals, he will join the human village eventually (crom).
clowning aside, im sure some people will join fury regardless, but make the info on character selection reflect reality so that the choice makes sense.
People should absolutely play on Crom- it’s worse than the jungle book on fury, it’d more be like getting raised in an insane asylum where you have to choose between playing with the r*pists or the murderers.
They need to merge servers and just enable pvp instances of each playzone. Would’ve solved a lot of problems
Or MAYBE they can finally implement the single-server-technology. For the development of which they sacrificed so many other projects the community begged for.
