The Razma quest: what a gigantic nothing burger; and don’t come at me with lore and whatever you are disagreeing with me right now: It’s an enormous middle finger to the player, period; any argument against that is futile, whatever amount of spaguetti you whim to throw at it wont stick; it could have been done in a thousand different ways and work. I was in disbelief and utter disappointment when Conan, with me holding the 8 pages in my hand in front of his face and having spoken to her already, doesn’t even acknowledge the effort… pardon the french, but that is bullshit from any angle of the prism you choose to look through it.
Al-Merayah: I certainly understand the reason for the changes and wholeheartedly agree with the tearing down of the place (Even though I play Single Player and it was never an issue for me; in fact, I loved the place), but for Pete’s sake, put something good to do in its place… hell, a world boss, an instance of the fort… freaking something! Alas, the run-of-the-mill encampment with fewer npcs than it should have and absolutely nothing relevant. Where there was once hours and hours of gameplay, now there is nothing to go there for, except when the hunt event rotates. I frankly feel let down by my game; they should have had a replacement, something big; not in terms of the number of destructible tiles used, but great. Instead, another great, fat nothing burger; what a crying shame.
I hoped that age of heros would really follow up on the Razma story…still hoping.
But putting it into a realistic frame, it ain’t happening. The “heroin” from the scinematic, and whos notes you find all over the map gets “killed” by the player and pops up again on the other side of the map. So be it, story potential wasted… so far. (fingers crossed)

About Razma:
Yeah, the Razma angle could have been developed better. We finally figure out where she ends up and Conan wants to know about it, but trying to let him know does nothing as if it just stops at a dead end. The most ironic part is that she is practically next door.
About Al-Merayah:
Before the grand eyesore of the castle was placed there, the Weeping Ruins nearby was for me a decent place to set up a camp (in spite of the heat). But the one thing I loved more about it was the music which played there, especially during the morning moments on that savannah. It was really, the only place I found to give me a sense of serenity and peace.
When that Stygian stronghold was put there, it pretty much forced me to relocate because of the surrounding guards causing unnecessary trouble. However, I can’t dispute the entertainment value it must have given you. I did get my share of it in getting some revenge on those wretches.
But if nothing else if you haven’t already done it …
Stop and listen to the music sometime.
Hence, as stated, I fully agree with the Al-Merayah fort being dismantled.
I used to raid the fort for gold and it was thrilling, used to level up characters there before taking them to the Nameless city and get a truck-ton of hardened steel =[
Honestly, this one was extremely surprised that Razma wasn’t the first individual upgraded to be a Companion. She has a questline pretty much already baked in.
As for Al Merayah…
This one would have liked it if there had been a bigger or more deadly camp left behind. Or a portal to the hunting grounds permanently opened.
At least the seasonal wild hunt event was deleted.
Was the ability to build near that area restored to what it once was or is it still pushed back?
I liked the concept of Al-Merayah, just not the endless respawning and frame drops. I’d like to see “living settlements” implemented for NPC camps. For example: a Darfari outpost of a few tents (if left alone), might upgrade to medium sized tents with a few more npcs, or even larger tents & some mix of tent sizes with even more people. Then let a sandstorm sweep through and drop developed settlements back to their minimal starting point.
I don’t know if that would work or not given what Al-Merayah did to frame rates. If it doesn’t interfere with game performance, it would add some life to the game instead of static fixed settlements. Just a thought…
I now expect nothing but nuisance and incompetence with anything that Funcom does with the game moving forward. They did more right than wrong with the game overall. So, I still play. It is one my 2 favorite games of all time.
