Since the update this morning it is not possible to place fish traps in large wells and it is more difficult to place fish traps in water (there is a very small “sweet spot” to place the traps in water).
I read awhile back that water wells and fish traps would no longer work. Don’t know about placement haven’t gotten into the game yet.
That’s a bummer. My base is up in the snow. I guess no fish for me since all the water area outside of hard to reach spots of the jungle on my server have foundation walls, claiming the area.
Ya, the patched that last year or so, we had fun discussion of drinking water shared with fish poo’s. XD
I was pulling fish out yesterday in my traps in my large well though. 
Changes were on PC, Consoles are missing 6+ months of patch work.
