As far as I know, you used to have to feed the animals in Conan (correct me if I’m wrong) and the developers removed this feature because it was annoying for players. So I think paying the rent for the buildings you own would not be accepted in the game either.
Of course, I agree that there should be some limit / system / restrictions for building elements.
We know from the last AMA that the game developers have some ideas for this. But they have not yet decided on a specific thing and have not set a date when they intend to introduce something.
Now is definitely a good time to talk about it and present your ideas on the forum.
It was not only the annoyance, but also a server drain. This would be different as far as coding. The feeding system had to register the thralls and thier states, then run an auto feed from the pot. Meaning non stop changing variables, and thus drag on performance. So much so, that tweaking to make it less annoying was not worth the coders time…
the system I propose runs basic script every set time interval…let’s say 6 hours, so 4 times a day between server resets on officials. it registers building piece count (countable ones only) then reduces time by x amount. If time hits 0, the station can be claimed by anyone and refilled. if not refilled in 24 hours, base decays.
Note…as fuel (coins) are added it pushes the timer up. so inventory slot is not needed. It would be like depositing into a vending machine. once you hit the max (14 days) it would not allow any more to be deposited. And you could stop whenever you wanted at anything below that.
I think I bought the game after they removed the feeding requirement. Thanks for the explanation.
As for your calculations…
…I confirm that you don’t need much (building elements) to be happy.
Recently, I counted myself and fit in 370 elements (placed all workstations + one altar + maproom + extra furnace). Exactly 244 elements for buildings and 126 for the wall (using 104 foundations in total).
That works until people block the farming areas forcing you to only get gold and silver from chests. Yes, it would be done.
There used to be a balance to builds. It was years ago in EA, when people spammed in tier 1, you countered with steel weapons that could destroy it. Tier 3 was never used as spam since it was so tedious to farm ichor in only a few caves (spiders). If someone did get too big of a juicy Tier 3 base going, a god would wipe it in seconds, making people choose between hours upon hours of farming for Tier 3 vs the smaller bases ease of building and replacing. Gods were hidden from the map, no altars would show up, no tokens either.
Agteed…on exiles it would be harder. At worse can use iron ore maybe…I was going for thematic with coins, giving them another use. But the fuel could be anything, as long as it wasn’t something I can farm in 15 minutes to get 14 days of ownership…defeats the purpose at that point.
Could alter the way logging on refreshing works, perhaps change it from refreshes the entire base instantly to requires the player to visit every sector of their base to prevent decay.
When you build something on the bare ground, press Tab and check the decay timer. Sometimes the timer is actually a few hours shorter than base, rarely timer is very short - then you have to destroy the object and put a new one closer so that it touches one of the foundations.
I build it like that all the time, but rather small/medium-sized bases, maybe it is different with a large one, only stable disappeared once.
I also remembered a funny story: I found someone’s base, it was really big and it had empty space on the center. I managed to build a little house there The next day a dancer appeared inside my house
The disappearance of slaves should also have been associated with the degradation of buildings. and leaving the food constraint so it was no longer enough just a fleeting entrance to reset the decay timers. because if you want to play a game that consives slaves as well as levels them you have to feed them and then equip them. and decay had to be set not by size but by type of walls such as T1 48 hours, T2 100 hours and T3 168 hours. the game started well but due to the destructive haste of pvp and players bite and escape has lost much of its originality. They should have had the pvp and pve managed by two different groups. Respecting even those who love full immersion. I have 5000 hours of play on official server between conan exiles and the island, I have two capacious buildings all in T3 and with all the workstations well organized instead of in bulk and with a hundred slaves all leveled at the cost of huge purges and all with epic weapons and armor. And even though I play other games I keep hunting and picking every week to fill the cauldron and manger. Waiting for new areas or finally opening one of the many fake doors by putting a doungeon on it as on siptha. sorry ventual errors but i use google translator
