Vertical elevator is bugged

The vertical elevator is bugged.
If you build it as high/long as possible, it will bug out.
Every time I take it down and go out on a loot run, it’s run up by itself when I get back. If I then try to go into the elevator platform at the bottom, I sometimes get teleported up to the top. Sometimes it does not bother to react at all when you try to press it down.
This bug has been there for a long time…

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Build a elevator as high as possible, from a high tree for example.
  2. Take it down to the bottom/click it down and jump down
  3. Go out for a loot run
  4. Come back and see if the elevator is in the top ? Bugged ?
