VOTE - help funcom find casue of gone followers issue

To help funcom faster find core of problem and help solve it i make vote to choose between few possible causes, type Yours guess.
1 - malicious revenge of angry fired worker
2 - mistake make by newly hired trainee
3 - fat finger missclick
4 - bigger picture secret plan to decimate conan exiles population in hope many of them go play new dune game

I vote for Number 5 - No Quality Assurance

This one likes the idea of a combination of 1&4.

A disgruntled employee is looking for ways to sabotage the company.
One of the money men see this as an opportunity and keep the malcontent on board and pretend to befriend them, and slowly drip ideas for how to stick it to “the man” all the whole hedging bets that when Dune launches, it will be easier to swoop up lapsed customers who left their “janky old game” for the new offering. Fewer complaints when they sunset a game that was already collapsing.

This is, of course, a jest.
On all seriousness it’s probably 2-3.

4 but the population they are quelling is that of the thralls. I know I’m not alone in seeing scores and scores of defenders, dancers, and just animals around. This could be a ‘oops all berries’ strategic mistake to thin the servers out some. Shame because I know w clan mate that will probably quit because of this. Their specialty is thrall collection.

Banking on 4.

Whoops, meant 3. This honestly strikes me as a fat finger with no triple check before saving.

My thought if it’s Funcom why not sabotage all regions.

The fourth option is unrealistic because there is no Dune yet.
Knowing how large corporations save money on employees and force people to work for wear and tear, I will offer another option: the actions of an employee who is tired of working overtime, and he decided in this way to make his life easier.
PS My condolences to all those affected.

No rollback. Only useless event and a lot of “sorries”.

Sometimes one wonders if there’s any quality left in this company. It’s parhetic.
It doesn’t matter what happened. It matters that it did happen right after so many players losing their stuff due to the “Nemedian bug”.
Some guys over there should try farming, since the gamming industry isn’t clearly for them.

Sure there is. Sadly it’s all in the art department.

The sentence should have ended there. No other bugs matter. No other losses matter. The fact that THIS DID HAPPEN is unacceptable under any circumstance.

Realistically with server management it’s just a mistake. Maybe the admin thought 1 was the normal setting as many of the server settings appear as 1 in their normal state with changes made as a percentage of the default 1.

But really this is a problem with planning. It should be impossible to set the server to absurd settings - for instance to prevent a disgruntled employee from nuking the game like this.

If it had be sabotage, they would have set building decay time to 1 day also and they wouldn’t have left the weird No Decay setting on the Sipta servers.

We can joke about this so we don’t cry, but in the end this is the worst possible mistake and funcom will need to do better than just changing the setting back and apologizing.

Rollback the servers, and then apologize.

That would be a violation of a number of laws so
no.

Yikes. While blood may need to be spilled here, wishing termination on someone else is pure Karen mode. I don’t need justice, I need assurance it’s not going to happen again.

Xanathoss - 3 from your list.
StormChaser - YES that too!
Scrooloose - A bit of that as well
sestus2009 - sad, but likely true

My guess
the automated script that performs the update was not validated and will be deployed to all servers before we’ve seen any official comment.

System support 101 - changes on the weekend to have LESS user impact (in business
) and do not make changes without a solid back-up plan.

I really hope their right teams are in the war room right now finding the save point to restore from. With this many servers, it will be a monumental task to coordinate with critical timing.

How often do the save files roll off in favor of new saves?

Oops, that was more than a vote. thanks for the thread.

Edit for spelling

I also vote for this. Proper processes would prevent options 1 and 2. Those processes are missing. Funcom has always had this same problem.

As for 1 and 4, those are just silly.

You don’t do option 1, ever, because you will be discovered and no one will hire you again. Ever.

Option 4 requires the kind of tinfoil hat illogical thinking that I never could understand. What the hell do you think will drive those ex-Conan Exiles players to play Dune when shіt like this happens? “Oh, yeah, I used to play Conan Exiles, but the team was so incompetent, that I kept losing all my hours of hard work because of their mistakes. But that’s okay, I will totally spend $60 on a similar product from the same company because it will be totally different this time around!”

Nah, this is no revenge or conspiracy. This is incompetence. Someone was tired and overworked, and there was nothing in place to keep them from shіtting the bed, just like there’s not enough QA in place to keep Funcom from releasing buggy messes on every major release.
