I always hope Funcom will add a weapon slot similar to the armor slots on your character. The weapon that is placed in the slot would then be visible on the character in a sheath so that the weapon does not just appear out of nowhere. Perhaps one slot for weapons, one for bows, and one for arrows (which would appear in a quiver). Then, if the player could assign a hotkey to it, it would also show up in the hotbar just like it was placed there.
Could even make a feat for learning how to make sheaths and make sheaths a craftable item. Then you could have different styles of sheaths too.
I agree I would love that too. But it seems that the switch of weapons is part of the gameplay mechanics that Funcom wants to preserve. That’s why they leave the possibility of arranging different weapons in the shortcuts bar to switch easily. It is often useful in PVP to choose a weapon according to the one that the enemy uses.
But personally I would prefer a weapon slot on the character card rather than flexibility in changing weapons.
I agree, and it could totally be used only if needed. So if playing PVP and it’s too cumbersome, just ignore the feature. But for all those who actually want to use it, it would be available.
I would like this to be added to the game. It would be really nice knowing what you are walking in to in pvp and you would be able to make a more balanced pvp build.
I would also like that you can only have one main and offhand weapon equipped at one time. Right now people are just doing rock, paper, scissors on the fly while fighting and that breaks the pvp in my opinion!
There should also be a small cooldown when swapping weapons out, it could be in a form of and animation.
They also need to remove animation canceling by disarming and rearming your self!
Because how would it work when we can have eight weapons attached to hotkeys? If its the last weapon we used, and we decide to draw another one, it looks like we’re drawing an axe when the character’s carrying daggers. And some weapons, such as spears, look totally weird when “worn”.
Limiting the number of weapons we can have “ready” at once might solve this particular problem - in e.g. Pillars of Eternity, characters can have two weapon sets at the same time, so the secondary set is visible on the belt/back/whatever. But this would be a serious drawback for people who are used to swapping weapons depending on the type of opponent they’re facing.
Normal Hotbar: 1-8 for tools, food and other stuff.
Weapons Hotbar: F1-F4 for weapons.
As for visual slots, I’d say: F1 and F2 slots behind the shoulders (for shield or 2h weapons - except daggers), F3 slot behind the back (for 1h weapons or bow) and F4 on the waist (for daggers).
