Cimmerians are very barberic and live in dark cold hills, most likely near russia. They war with the picts, venirmen and other barberic tribes.
Id suggest grabbing the black horse graphic novels illistrated by Cary Nord, or reading the original books themselves to get a good idea of cimmeria. They’re great, and you’ll really get some great character ideas!
P.S. the graphic novels are the books just illistrated. They did a great job and i suggest them to anyone who plays the game!

I wonder, if we get a game like CE having that world map, each country being the size of the Exiled Lands, of course being separated loading screens so our pc/consoles don’t explode.
That would be cool. I thought that the developers did an awesome job showing some of the most iconic places from te books with Conan Exiles though, and in a pleasant and interestingly easy to navigate. The jungles with the pirates and ruins, and the ape men, and the statues that come to life, its all right out of Iron Shadows in the Moon! And the frost Giants, and what the frost giant sais!
No, Cimmeria is not even close to Russia. That would be the area of Turan and Hyrkania. If you look at the maps where they superimpose Hyboria over modern maps of the same area most of Cimmeria is currently under water but what is above water is in the British Isles. The Cimmerians are basically his interpritaion of the Celts set in Hybdoria so ancient Scottish and Irish mostly. For the most part they don’t leave their own boarders and care little for the rest of the world, unless that rest of the world enters theirs. They are a tribal people with no real national identity. The land is cold and heavily forested and very harsh. Though they “worship” Crom the word worship is to be taken with a grain of salt because they don’t really pray to him or expect hiim to do anything because he won’t. YOU have to prove yourself to HIM with your actions.

If you want to look at any material for your RP you really really should read the actual stories from Robert E. Howard as anything else is just…not nearly as good.

Neat! I was going mostly by description of where other locations where being described from the books I’ve read, and I figured he’d have to have been from somewhere near like Poland or something, but i forgot he was right near Atlania and the aquilonians. Where’d you find that map? Im a super Conan nerd and would definitely like a copy!

That’s a good question, and one that can be asked about all the races referred to in the game. Best solution is to go a grab the digital version of the Conan books, read them, and see exactly what they ‘should’ be (or duck to the end of the book where Robert E. Howard has a detailed summary of the entire Conan genre.
From Conan Wiki and according to the author, “the Cimmerians are tall and powerful, with dark hair and blue or grey eyes”. They are a proto-Celtic or proto-Gaelic people. From the evidence in the stories, they appear to be partly or completely tribal hunter-gatherers, with no central government"
I might have to come up with a different race after reading some of this because Valyrie is gonna be nicer and hesitant with the hard decisions she has to make in the Exiled Lands. Cimmerians aren’t from what I read here.
As a people, no, but there’s always room to be an atypical member of a given race or people. Conan himself is not a typical Cimmerian in every aspect, either. If anything there’s interesting story hooks in why one is not a typical member of one’s people.

Just an idea (though lots of people have already given plenty of good advice) you could play (for free) Age of Conan and start with Cimmerian as your race. Levels like, 20-40, ish, or so (it’s been a while) are mostly based on your starting area and nearby leveling range. So it’s all Cimmerian based stuff, might help give you some ideas for your character to talk to the NPC’s in the villages and do their quests, etc.

As a Vendhyan I find this post difficult
