Hello everyone, so I’ve seen many people on the forums and even on other plataforms such as YouTube, saying multiple things on what the game should change for it to become a better version they desire, some of them I agree on, others I don’t, so I’m going to make my list by order of what should change for Conan:
OPTIMISATION AND ACESSIBILITY FEATURES: I’m gonna say the truth that I see no one saying because most people play this game either on PC and newer gen consoles, but the old gen in which I play on needs a SEVERE boost in FPS, freezing and crashing optimisation. After they got those issues out of the way they can move to things like crossplay and other acessibility options for consoles such as user mods and modded servers.
2)REMOVE MANY MICROTRANSACTIONS OR MAKE THEM FREE: Something that the entire community can agree on, is that the Battlepass for Conan is utter bullshit, in my opinion If they are going to stick with the battlepass, make it free, Sea of Thieves is a game that costs the same price as Conan or is even cheaper if I recall it and all of the content in there can be earned for free, buying is just a speeding up process option, they could make the Battlepass free and have all of the items that ever apeared on the Bazar be available for purchase at all time, not be just a temporary thing with sometimes a discount, and also decrease serverly the price for Crom Coins or add a way so that we can gain them for free like a daily login gets you 10 coins.
3)REWORK WEAPON, ARMOR AND STATS BALANCE ON PVP: Another thing the community has issues on is the PVP part of Conan, it’s not for everyone because of it being so tryhard and exploit based to the point that a lot of people either start quitting oficial servers because of that, you can’t just “cassualy” PVP in this game unless you are going on a server event or something. Plus in Age of Sorcery they did the Atribute rework which was a pleasant change in my opinion, but one that the community found it to be very one way driven…one build for PVP (max strenght, agility and vigor for max damage and HP) and one for harvesting (max encumberance), if you are not using either of those in ALL of the situations you are either a Noob (at least it’s what the community thinks because I highly respect players who try different builds all the time), or role-playing (like I am in a server). And about weapons and armor is simple, light armor for running away when you can and having better stamina consuption, pike (with Poison) to kill players from afar, and dual Daggers (with Poison also) to kill them when they start pushing and everything else in the map that takes either Poison or Bleed damage.
These are just some of my thoughts, what do you agree, disagree or would you personally add/change something?
Sorry but I do not agree with that. There has been five battle passes to date. And unlike the Black Lotus Bazaar I feel they were excellent value for money. Not counting the 10 slots which refund our Crom Coins, each battle pass is giving us something in the vicinity of 50 in game items per battle pass. Now if people have been rolling over their funds from the previous battle passes then it has only cost them a one off payment of $15 for all of them, the same price as an old DLC in my country. Sooo…
50 (items) x 5 (battle passes to date) = 250 in game items for $15 outlay (if we roll the money over).
That’s true, but I still can’t help the feeling that the Battlepass on this game could be free or at least give more of it’s items for free or have some of the Crom Coins earned for free. But thanks for being constructive on your argument.
eternal problem of console players - when you are buying your console it’s already 2-3 years old hardware inside (1 or 2 generations behind the current thing). Then you play live service game like Conan, that is likely to grow, get some graphics overhaul at some point etc, and you are still on console, stuck to the same hardware which might be 8 years old when the game receives major update, so most developers simply abandon support for old consoles over time as they are not able to pull these updates.
It’s cool to get free things (I personally feel bad I never take anything for free from anyone) but why would you expect some company to employ developers so they add free things to the game? You already bought the game, if you want it to grow they have to find funds to pay the devs for their work and it would be also cool to have some profit
Haven’t we had many, many weapon, armor and stat rebalances over the last five years or so, most of which have been because of PvP feedback (NPCs don’t tend to come to the forums to complain about losing to an unfair meta)? And yet here we are, still asking for another round of changes.
The thing is, as long as the weapons are different, one of them will be “stronger” than the rest. If that one is nerfed, or another one is buffed, another one will be the strongest, but one option or another will be. The same applies to armor, stat build and everything else.
Another “rebalancing” attempt is likely to break more things than it fixes, and in a couple of weeks the PvP community will have determined the new meta, at which point everyone and their grand-aunt is using that and demanding a new rebalancing update.
This is a tencent property now, this will become another of their zombie games. The ages will end and it will go to recycling battle passes, with a skeleton crew to keep the game operating, like so many other games tencent owns.
You are most welcome @StormPaladin. And my thanks to you in turn for such a polite and couteous reply! It is always great to have pleasant and insightful discussions on the forums when we can. Ironically, had you of switched the words ‘Battle Pass’ for ‘Black Lotus Bazaar’, then my reply would have been converse, and I would have been in support and agreement with you. And I would like you to know that I respect your point of view even if we ended up agreeing to disagree on this one particular point.
I do not really think there is a whole lot that even can be done on the older generation of consoles at this point in time with the addition of so much to the game over the years, and the continued additions being planned. I am not saying that nothing can be done, I just do not know how much is realistic to expect.
There is nothing wrong with the battlepass. As @Croms_Faithful pointed out, a $15 investment gets you 50 in game items (the worth to you personally will vary) AND enough Crom Coins to purchase the next battle pass thus making it from from that point forwards.
The Battlepass is not an issue of microtransations. The BLB IS and you would have had a much more valid argument if you had brought that up instead. And no, the entire community does not even agree on this being a problem or that the problems it has are even the same. But in general, there are problems with this one.
Do you not understand how many times everything in this game has already been re-work, re-balanced, overhauled and completely changed EXPLICITLY for the sake of “balancing” PVP already? @Kapoteeni pointed this out quite well already but the simple facts remain this has been done ad nauseam since the game has been released and it will never make anything different. Nothing will ever change. Someone will always find the “optimal” build, the “optimal” combination of stats / weapons / armor and EVERYONE WILL USE THE EXACT SAME THING because that is how it works in PVP.
You all make that conscious choice to use that “meta build” that you learned from youtube / redit / wherever and you all made that conscious choice to ignore all other options. That’s on you. If anything does get changed you will all choose to use the same exact new “meta build” while crying for nerfs and reworks and everyone else be damned.
So can Funcom do things to support PVP? Most certainly. Should they? ABSOLUTELY! But at the same time there needs to be serious though and consideration behind what exactly is done and how it effects everyone. For one thing, they could, and should, provide greater protection for offline raiding and start working on additional siege engines for both offensive and defensive aspects of raiding while reducing the efficiency of the bombs (as well as the ease of access to them). That alone would encourage more actual interaction between players, protect players bases more from being wiped while they are not even online and provide them with greater options at their disposal for a more engaging raiding experience. Will they do this though? I remember @biggcane55 having some great suggestions for raid ideas in the past.
Yes I understand the game is a live service game but what bothers me is that the game is like 6 years old and there has been very few points in it’s life spent where it has been running slightly smooth on older gen consoles that I can’t even remember those points (where it has had it’s full launch, yes the game originally launched on PC but that was before it’s oficial launch), where in that time the new gen consoles haven’t been anounced or not even expected to be anounced. And about the Battle Pass, I feel like you said already, I BOUGHT the game, before it even came to Game Pass, plus the Riders of Hyboria and Isles of Siptah, in my country is a different price because of taxes in here so the game plus the DLCs and the Age of War Chapter 1 BP (which I completed it), go over 250 of our curency which is not cheap. I kinda wish after saying all of this that they stick with the BP but I hope they make it free, because having to spent on the BP and the after you complete It being in stalemate of either buying something you really want on the Bazar or waiting for the new BP to come, so If they made it free and made you get some Crom Coins for completing it, you could spent on some items in the Bazar.
Yes I’ve noticed there has been many rebalances to the PVP meta but yes if you nerf something, something is buffed, but my problem with my experience as an average PVPer (more of a PVEer and roleplayers) and having survived a few fights and lost some, and seeing some comments on YouTube, is that the meta is to heavy in this game, if you are going to pvp in this game you are forced to use the meta build, If you don’t, your chances of losing are drasticaly increased, and what I’m trying to say is that it shouldn’t be this way, I’m okay with people having prefered builds over others, I’m just not okay with those builds being a HUGE advantage over any other build. So the words I’m going for is “build variety” and “weapon variety”, that’s what I’m trying to say, that all or at least most weapons should have a place in the PVP cenario.
MOST DEFINITLY, I’ve actually was thinking about this a few months ago! They could make it so it’s similiar to sorcery, so you can have like unique skills and other things you can unlock. Like Mitra being able to unlock a skill where you cast a big shinning sunlight area that heals all allies inside of it and harms enemies. Or Set being able to create an army of snakes to charge at your foes. Ymir being able to cast a moving foward Blizzard that Frostbitens everyone in the path. Yog being able to conjurer the Hunger of Yog, where the caster and all his allies would become starved at the instant of the cast, and would slowly start to lose health, but would have HUGE amounts of health and damage for like 2 minutes. Derketo having the ability to conjurer from the ground a statue that applies stamina and health buffs to all allies but darkens the visions of all enemies that get near it and applies bleed to them. Zath being able to create balls of spiders that you can either trow by hand or put in the trebuchet, and once the hit a surface it creates 3/5 spiders to attack enemies. Jebal Sag could make a meat/potion that could then hoever drinks it into a beastform they desire, like a Werewolf. And Crom (who needs some attention at the moment) wouldn’t be able to have an altar, except call the man who understands him better…CONAN, you could have him as a temporary altar where the only things you could have from him is his religious weapon (not a tool) where you would need to slay somebody with it, not just harvest and you could craft with the armors and weapons of Crom and the skill you would craft from him would be a constant rain of arrows or swords or javelins from the sky in a area near you. And other perks you could craft from the altars would be like Mitra being able to craft a Golden Golem, Set a Serpentman, Ymir a Frost Giant, Yog could have two canibal brutes, Derketo could have a Lion and a Skeleton Warrior (because of her ideology of life and death) and Zath (of course) 2 spiders.
Conan is and always will be a game exploration
and strife. . Unless you just sit on a rock somewhere sooner or later you will have to engage man creature or demon
Anyone can throw mods into the game to make it more interesting. And if you want that you have to use a. PC. I for one do not need mods to enjoy conan
By playing Conan straight i get the satisfaction of knowing i best the game fair and square
Good luck out there Exile
