Funcom, take NEW WORLD example!

This is meant to be a trend to discuss with developers and the community about the game and its clear changes.
Assuming that Conan has been my main game for 3 years now (official pvp servers), I can certainly be one of those players who can express a fairly objective opinion about it.
It is clear that all the updates / changes introduced by the developers have been made with a view to trying to make the game, in its mechanics, as realistic as possible; but was it worth it?
I might start by saying that, when I first started conan, the game was hugely populated and from the very first moment, the PVP mechanics had made me `` sick ā€˜ā€™ for this game, damn fun!
Suddenly, however, FUNCOM decided to have to give CONAN a change (in my opinion useless given that the game was loved precisely for the roll and the pvp), introducing a new roll that, initially hard to get used to, however, has become a choice that has allowed to use almost any weapon and not just the hammer and spear.
The latest patch, however, I am sorry to say, has practically killed the game, emptying the official servers and killing 80% of the pvp.
What reason was there for changing treatments? What reason was there to remove the deletion of animations?
Just look at the success that NEW WORLD is having, a game that at times in the characteristics of pvp reminds me of the first Conan that FUNCOM has practically traced.
I would like the developers to understand that we, the realism in a game like Conan, do not give a damn!

AMAZONā€™s new game is practically the CONAN of 3 years ago in its fighting dynamics and is being played by around millions of people. Why? Because players are interested in fun and not useless realism that has done nothing but kill my favorite game.

I understand that there is no going back, but I assume that admitting you made a mistake and going back your own steps is not a defeat, but a wise choice to save one of the best games out there (of its kind).
It is an absurd sadness that a game that simply needed to balance the horses, solve the pork for the slaves, had a total change from emptying all the servers.

I would like to know from the developers if there is any possibility of change.
I hope that the Conan community responds to this post in an objective way, based on obvious numbers that I am certainly not inventing and do not interact with this post to consider it `` a cry ā€˜ā€™, but they understand that obviously my thought is a thought that is effective.

Conan is better than NEW WORLD, but NEW WORLD makes numbers with a pvp that is identical to the first CONAN.
Funcom, wake up!

I wonā€™t drop Conan because Conan is survival game; Pvp in Conan was fantastic, but i love Conan also for building/farming systems.
Pvp isnā€™t all but these changes killed , honestly, the game .
So, this is why i donā€™t move on to NW, plus i play on console .

Anyway , im agreed with you about funcom wonā€™t rollback changes they made , but if I were a CONAN developer, seeing the very low numbers and just 2 official servers full on 300 (including siptah and exile lands together) I would even think about it for a moment.

Amazon is not Funcom and vice versa. New World is a mmorpg, Conan Exiles is a survival, they are not alike. Also there is a meta in NW so a lot of weapons/skills are not being used and others are OP (a lot of CC and AOE).

Officials servers may looks empty because a lot of people have summer holidays, others are tired of cheaters and there is a third group of new players that drop pvp officials when they see that griefers build a wall around their base make them impossible to keep playing.

As Funcom said cancel animation was no intended and thatā€™s why they removed it from the game.

Urgent problems that have PVP CE: Cheaters, abuse of land claim, griefers and so on.

Iā€™m on that boat xD

I know its made by amazon and theyā€™ll probably F*** it up down the road with microtransactions but hey, it will (and has been) fun for now. And its not like Funcom is much better lmao. Iā€™ll take a possibly good game over a perpetually broken one any time of the day

For me itā€™s Naraka: Bladepoint, which will release next week. The BETA surprised me positively. Conan now belongs to my past (I still start it up sometimes to test stuff, but I am not actively playing it anymore)

Sad you had to ask forum not to go into defensive ā€œstop cryingā€ mode. Tells alot of the forum users.

Now as for your take, I agree. I only played 40 hours in beta, but the area control alone made for better pvp reasons. There were some grind issues I had with crafting, but I will wait until I play fully to finalize my verdict. I may bounce between, as Conan still does some things really well, but at 5000 hours, I only play to hang out with friends, not the actual game mechaincs.

I may google this game. looking for something more ā€œfunā€ pvp wise.
Rust didnā€™t do it, and I am not into CoD.

First thing: I highly doubt that an MMORPG will allow animations to glitch to hit faster (which is basically what you are asking for in return).

Second: the pvp servers are being emptied by the invasion of hackers and the Funcom policy that is totally ineffective to fight against it (I imagine that they are concentrated in Dune thinking that they will be able to sell it to the same users that they ignore during these years in Conan. ā€¦ GL).

As a CE burnout I have been looking at different games online recently. I saw NW and looked into the game mechanics, etc.

It sounded interesting, and did not have that cartoony anime look that I hate in games, but then I noticed the OP crowd control and AOE domination and realized it is just a reskinned 16 year oldā€™s wanna be mage killa Warhammer wet dream.

New World wonā€™t be pay-to-win but will include microtransactions, Amazon reveals. Because of course it will. Let the milk money flow.

Personally I think CE/IoS will never revert back to the old PVP meta. If that was your thing, then you might as well move on.

There are huge differences between the games also, which I wont get into, but suffice to say, after watching numerous NW videos and reading reviews, I donā€™t see how it even compares to CE. ( Again, not saying CE is better or worse, just a totally different game style. )

I see both games totally different, NW isnā€™t comparable as the same type of game like CE.

But lots of attempts to get a reaction on current development is lacking, it is almost 0 on the general (feedback/bugs) forums.
Lots of unattended no reaction threads just die out, and a few years later still not addressed. The lack of communication is pretty big.

They promised more communication and live streams, but I doubt this will happen more often, now its vacation, before it was corona. What will be next?

@Effemme94 , Many of your points are correct. I participated in every aspect of this game, pvp - pvec-pve, private official and single player. I remember that dodge change hurt me a lot, but now I donā€™t want it back. What however stopped me from pvp and I will never return is that you canā€™t actually avoid a fight anymore, itā€™s over. Not every player participated in pvp enjoyed pvp, some just like the friends fun time, building smart, farming, defending the base, often purges, no thrall dungeons, just you and five other crazy horses clan mates doing stupid things and laugh. My greatest joy on pvp is to farm back the legendaries my clan mates lost in a battle. My worstā€¦ Brimstooooone, I might have farmed millions. Often purges gave me the chance to meet every single purge crafter, fighter, archer of the game, from every race this game has. My best pve experiences came from my pvp clan. They left Conan long agoā€¦
I really miss themā€¦

I am excited to try Ashes of Creation. And I am hoping that when Funcom launches ā€œDuneā€ itā€™s a more robust, complex, better version of Conan Exiles with some sci-fi elements involved in it. I wonā€™t try New World on principles alone. Canā€™t support a mega corporation like Amazon as they spread their tentacles into the gaming industry that they will inevitably abuse.

If the way to treat the players is going to be the same as in Conan, neither I nor any of the people I know are going to buy that game.

Okay, Iā€™ll go there: Funcom, for the love of Mitra, please donā€™t take New World as your example.

Yeah, I get it, people are dissatisfied with PVP. And Funcom should fix that. But letā€™s leave New World out of it. If I wanted to go play an MMO, I would go play an MMO.

In interests of transparency, Iā€™ll state that Iā€™m especially sore and salty about New World. Back when I worked at AGS, way before the beta, New World was a completely different game, much more like Conan Exiles than what New World is now. You could build your settlement and, once you progressed far enough down the tech tree, you could protect it from raids with a claim flag that burned money. After leaving AGS, I awaited New World with high hopes, and signed up for the beta. When beta finally rolled out, it was unrecognizable.

So for anyone who thinks that New World is better than Conan Exiles, @Chaorukā€™s advice is the best:

For everyone else, my advice would be to do something much harder than writing a post about how another game has better numbers: write a post discussing what you want to changed in this game to make it better, and be prepared to discuss it in a civil, hopefully rational way, with a modicum of empathy towards those who disagree with you because their play style is different.

Part of being objective is realizing that just comparing numbers doesnā€™t mean youā€™re doing the right comparison, or that youā€™re doing the comparison right.

For example, I could point out that thereā€™s a game that outstrips Conan Exileā€™s numbers by an incredible margin. After all, Conan Exiles has only had an all-time peak of 53,402 players, and this other game has had 1,305,714. Thatā€™s almost 25 times more, an increase of roughly 2345% over Conan Exiles!

Those numbers become much less useful once I reveal that the game Iā€™m talking about is CS:GO. :man_shrugging:

EDIT: I just wanted to clarify one thing. Iā€™m not attacking you or saying that I completely disagree with you on everything. There have been changes I loved, changes I still hate, and changes I donā€™t care about. So when youā€™re asking for the game to be fun, thatā€™s where I agree with you. I just think that the comparison with New World is not useful at all, whereas some nice civil discussion about what to change would be very valuable. Sadly, those discussions are almost non-existent on these forums and instead we get endless requests to nerf anything and everything.

Most of the ā€œnot funā€ parts is not by devs, they are by players that likes to ruin for outhersā€¦

Meh its not the same thing as cyberbug imo. We have played the recent beta, and seen the game. The good parts of it, the bad ones, the design flaws and bugs, pretty much what you get when playing a game normally. It already has a pretty good foundation that would be good enough for many (if forums and reddit serves for feedback) yet it still can improve quite a bit.

On one hand, iā€™m glad that they are taking their time to make the game as best as they can before shipping, maybe even change a few of the more questionable design aspects such as town boards, bad coop questing, rather shallow missions that make you go really far and then come back talk with the quest giver.
On the other hand, seems like even this extra month (now pretty much 2 months) until launch wonā€™t be enough to do much, aside from some polishing. And if you change too much now, you donā€™t have time to test things out either.

Iā€™m not sure what is going to happen next, but iā€™m quite optimistic given the fun i had so far

About ā€œNew Worldā€ wasnā€™t the PVP System they had from the start so universaly hated by everyone that they are redoing it now?

Lmao

With over 5k hours in the game, I agree that the changes they made (drastic changes) made a lot of people quit the game before they would have, with burnout.

It was a blast to have full servers and people for the most part really enjoyed the game. I would say FC needs to focus on a game mode and build around it (pvp/pve/rp). Trying to make everyone in the group happy didnā€™t turn out so well.
