Getting a little bored with my base near shattered springs and looking for something with a color other than brown and notice no one really builds bases on the eastern half of the map, why is that?
I have not even really explored it yet.
Honestly, the best answer anyone can give you is to go explore it. It’s worth the effort
But anyway, I can’t tell you why other people don’t build there, but I can tell you why I don’t. The terrain is extremely uneven, there are big-ass trees and ruins everywhere, it rains way too often for my tastes, and the nights are too damn dark.
Correct answer!
This is the case for myself also. Although I have noticed that many PvP players do like to build there in the Jungle biome for these very reasons.
From a pvp point of view jungle is a good place to build bases because the abundance of temples , temples being good since there high up and hard to raid , but apart from that jungle is pretty bad for resources . Oh and it was close to teimos when he was op . Yeah so jungle has good base spots , bad thrall spawns , best dungeon for weapons , and bad resources . But from a pve point of view theres just generally not that much space with all the trees and uneven terrain as codemage said
Yep and yep. Also in PVE you can make some really stellar tree bases that can put all other builds to shame because you really got to know your stuff building in the trees to make it look good. The Derkheto DLC is almost a must for the treehouse foundation. I know most don’t use it but once you figure it out, you just shake your head at folks that don’t use it because the bases just look…unpolished.
Edit…the negative on the treehouse foundation is that once you are used to building in that way, it is very hard to go back to standard castle style…you get addicted to curves.
Sounds like great fun erjoh! Admittedly I tried a treehouse base myself once, but it was far from a nice build, so I tore it down in frustration. It takes skill to make a really nice treehouse base and good conceptualisation. But they look amazing. Kudos to you sir.
Fun… frustrating. Same thing really. It’s only fun because of the frustration prior. Once you figure out the right wedge and square sequence to connect, wala…fun is there. Before that? Let put it this way…when the build system gave us full resources back when demolishing, I never have been happier…soooo many tear downs…so many ’ oh come on! It’s gotta work!'…and so many times I messed my footing and fell…all the way down.
And, of course, the tree-bases are a little on the harder side to raid or (sometimes) find.
I personally avoid tree-bases only because I still have disturbing flashbacks to a film sequel from the 80’s that had little ‘cutesy’ furry buggas that also infested tree communities
My solution for the East: I build on water.
Sure, the riverbed/seabed are uneven too, so building a foundation down there can be bothersome, but once the base foundation is ready, I can just build pillars upward to the surface and make my floor with ceiling pieces.
