When can we expect a huge Update/Expansion?

I think it has something to do with the stories of Conan as a pirate (which are many), also it is an easy, cheap way of expanding the map without a new biome (since funcom said there won’t be any more) and having new transport mechanics without mounts (since funcom also said there wont be any for the time being)… basically is us lowering our expectation and suggesting something to make the game bigger, within the Conan lore and without asking things the devs wont pull off… at least I think that’s why people ask for it.

Yeah fair enough, I get that. It’s just that floating around on boats without a whole bunch of supporting mechanics seems like a lot of effort for little gain. I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m not against boats per se, I just don’t quite get the massive interest (within the constraints of how they’d realistically be implemented).

Well, is just about the immersion and world building I guess… even if they end up being glitchy. Honestly there’s a lot this game could have, but at this point I suppouse we will settle with anything they throw at us

I don’t have to be an Ancient Mariner to know an anti-shipite when I see one! ;D

Personally I’d like to have a large barge up near Heliograph Heights. I think the allure would be if we could move them, and I can finally pretend to be a non-bald Kevin Costner from Waterworld. No but seriously, mobile build platforms over water has always been my interest. (Even if they have to cheese out like GTA with the yachts, where you can only move them to designated spots.)

If they were to add boats…and that is a big if…they would have to add in some reason to use them, outside of just that it would be cool to sail around in the water.
And it should be limited to the eastern bay area and the eastern lake by the Great Dam. The rivers are not a necessary travel route and should remain as is.

  1. Would need water beasts.
  2. Would have to have some sort of weapons for players to slay said beasts (harpoons???, bows, javelin, spear ?)
  3. Underwater mechanics for using said weapons.
  4. Reason to go to and be under the water (treasures, materials, end game lore)
  5. Ways to defend beach head bases against boat attacks
  6. Ways to attack players on the boat from the shore
  7. Ways to battle boat to boat

5 thru 7 seem to be the most difficult to avoid exploiting.

Under water treasures and dungeons would be awesome!

5,6,7 isnt too hard, throwing orbs, greek fire, scorpio /not that gun/, balistas, that bridges to move from boat to boat

problem is to overhaul of water, npcs cant swim, water feels empty

also question is can u go on open sea without completing journey? with bracelet?

its great oportunity to enslave crew, and sail trought seven seas

I love it, perfectly vague to avoid spoilers. Let’s call it the Undergate, or a certain Big Guy’s frosty back door.

cus that be too big project /that boats etc./ they need make this as rly huge dlc,or separate game

but iam aware its rly hard task to do, also there is engine limitations, u need to fake physics cus otherwise u play that game at 0.5 fps, i played KSP and imagining doing something similar in multiplayer is crazy

Yeah, and when you look at the games listed there, they all have an overall quality covering most aspects of the game: playability, wide variations to the type of gameplay, smooth action and limited clumsiness npcs/creatures/players experience. Whether you are a player that like realism or one that just wants to hit things hard, the games they list cover most things very well. For Conan Exiles, I do look forward to more interesting things on the water fronts. I play Subnautica and had not realised how many underwater terrors there could be :stuck_out_tongue:

PS: I cannot say how much internal screaming and urges to hurl things across rooms that the appalling movement and unreal object interactions ark and ark atlas dlc cause in me. I fully understand that I am very likely the only one to find that being the case, but…

Also in the conan Stories themself there are a lot of water monsters, giant squid and water creatures.

Of course, but we have to factor in the complexity of the actual game structure and build, the server expectations and the like. Sometimes the overall engine that delivers the awesome land-based experience cannot handle all of the varied mechanics of sea or underwater or terraforming or flying or… In many cases game companies get away with very varied regions, but often do that by killing off resolution, clipping through stuff, ‘jaggy’ movement and the like.
If all servers and game consoles/pcs were mega beasts then it would be no issue, but game companies have to cater to the widest client market.
What we have with Conan Exiles is really a mind blowing experience in gaming. The combat, movement, terrain and structure is incredible. Add to that the massive memory overload many bases on a server create and it is astounding that it handles it all (and lets not refer to the exploiters and hack attacks that add extra strain)
Overall, Conan Exiles is certainly well-deservedly one of the best games of its genre.
Enjoy it. That’s the best thing.

Me: have always stuck to a private server with a 30-player cap. Okay, so it’s PvE and active Admins, but it’s not laggy except when first entering. Lots of mods too. I always recommend that. There are a large number of open and pwd’d privates out there and they keep good numbers. The ‘official’ servers are a mess (as with any game) as they are targets for large groups that either pillage server to server; want to be ‘Alpha’; exploiters, etc. Am very pleased to see the large numbers of international mob-griefers have moved to the ark pirate dlc so the CE servers are getting some peace.
Calamitous servers are very popular too I hear.
All depends what you want.
PS: Every year FC take vacation over Xmas. Expecting any releases around now is pointless.

Well, I’m not expecting a release for any specific date :stuck_out_tongue: I just would love to see some new stuff getting done.

Modders are back at it (new dungeon mod):
