Maximizing the population is not gonna help a lot if the server are empty, and getting people to play the game is only done with tons of content so… either way some sort of expansion is need it. People are probably not coming back because “they fixed the bow” I think.
I dont really agree with that.
Servers die because people spam foundations too much and build way too huge bases.
And because suddenly and miracously everyone goes from a ping which is just fine (50-100) to horrible (500-1000) if some attack on a certain base on a server is started.
In order to fix serverperformance, players have to change their behaviour too.
This is one big giant reason in favor of admins if they could check whats going on at the individual players client.
I do remember on full launch with all these nasty bugs and stuff, that all of the servers I played on where running perfectly and smooth with 40/40.
While I agree that a huge map would be awesome I doubt it would work this way.
(if you create a world, you need to put up a server for each part of the world, not just randomly link private servers together which then may be shut down, leaving an hole in that wordl)
But having that apply to official servers with tens (overexaggerating: hundreds) of servers being linked to one single world… That would be awesome!
Worlds of these sizes are not for private players to rent… At least I think these would be way too expensive.
(You know, having to rent like 50 servers and linking them together.)
Though that is completely up to each player to decide on that.
The server I currently play on has age of calamitous and pippi active and would use sexiles if it could be used along these two but it’s said to be an outdated/incompatible version while the server is said to have gotten the latest one and the modder claiming it would work just fine for lots of servers…
Anyway. Yes, there is a huge bunch added to the game, but some of that is OP too.
(Mines, Mills, all these HUGE profit passive thingys)
On the other hand, mods like Pippi really challenge the admins’ creativity which is a great thing! (Thespian - Mushieditor (which by the way makes a great stupid joke in german) and NPC+Lootspawners - and Egress of course)
I think the latter one is capable of adding a whole lot of more content and it’s great that this is compatible with a lot of other mods.
→
Because what content is will always depend on the player who is confronted with possibilities.
It’s a nasty repeating cycle in MMORPGs, that people have quarrels about someone not having done all of the content before saying that there isnt content (for them) anymore…
Mh…
Seeing how most of the players seem to have been pvpguys, the shrinked playerbase shows how PvP is a mess in multiple ways.
Misbalance of weapons is one part, but not a crucial one.
The worst thing is people using glitches, exploits and macroes to gain an advantage over the mass of the players. Because it’s only a small portion who actually uses macros (I think).
Then there are glitches and lagswitches…
Another thing which isnt caused by players but rather part of the game is the misbalance of raiding vs building. If building wasnt possible if that landclaim has been under attack in the past 30 seconds, that would already help fixing raiding vs building.
Offlineraids on the other hand are a very bad and frustrating thing too. This is why I suggested to realize offlineprotection but having 24/7 raidtime in exchange.
But I will wait for the sorcery/raid update to hit.
They need to fix this game before they add anything else that will just be a broken mess. Funcom are the slowest at fixing bugs or doing balance so dont expect alot. The building system is still a buggy mess, blocks dont clip, fall through tiles/foundations, map room/animal pens are so stupid to try an place anywhere they need like a extra 2 blocks around the outside of Icon to even fit, AI is trash, servers are second class 30+ players on server it starts to crap out.
Its reason why we dont Getting new content, Last two patches and few next is suposed to be mostly fixes, qol, immersion
Btw, About fixes bethesda is slowest, they have 18 years same bug in their engine…
Outsourcing? I mean they ceartantly have the money now. They should get help IMO.
Hmm you say the lag on servers is cause we build huge base. Well what is left to do in this game mate ? Even start building or pick on new comers on servers. So i do not found no satisfaction on attacking a new player with 10 gods and 10000 bombs when he just build his t3 base . You need to understand. there is nothing to do in this game but build or become a toxic ■■■■■■■.
On another way on server i play was full of buildings since day 1 i join 6 moths or so , from 2 -3 moths the lag is outrages, server crush every day 2 , 3 times. WE was 40 now we are left with 20 players
Before you add more bug content they shod focus on fixing bugs and exploits and optimization of servers and graphics. This game has core problem that need to be fix before you add more content.
That being say i notice since the last DLC all servers have lag, mobs cannot e kill or they are statue. They improve animation and they bug the game mechanics, if check steam charts you can see they lost 15% of players https://steamcharts.com/app/440900 instead of bring players back with the bow update they push players away with huge lag and discomfort. And the lag is huge players quit daily
Yes, but it is one of the issues. When they touted being able to have 75-100 people on a server during EA and then scaling back all the way to 30 (or whatever it is now) definitely isn’t helping the game. The premise is to have a bunch of warring tribes compete against one another, but that’s a staggering drop in player count per server.
The main problem with Conan is that it can be extremely frustrating to play with some of the mechanics, and then throw some of the worst bugs on top of that. Maintaining your health at early levels is an extreme chore, the body disappearing bugs, the stutter, the lack of information of equipment before you can craft it, the combat hitboxes that are all over the place, the balance of the purge… etc, etc. This game still feels like it’s in Early Access.
I DO agree that an expansion would bring people back, I just don’t think that compounded with these issues that people will stay. If they focused on designing a new free map that allows more like what was originally promised in terms of player count, then that might help a bunch too.
Agree with your points and I do also think they need a lot of quality of life and bug changes to have the foundation for people to stay after an expansion. Luckily Funcom has started to prioritize polishing the base game in the coming patches so maybe by the time the expansion comes the game will be good enough on a fundemental level that people actually stays around. It’s no denying this game has a massive draw and people want it to succeed. If they release an expansion im sure we will see some serious population returning.
I just came back since RDR2 came out to see how things are running. I couldn’t play for more than 10 minutes before I couldn’t take it anymore already. The lag is just ridiculous still. I had some good times on Conan Exiles but I believe those days are now over.
Auch… well yeah, the game is a bit of a mess. I know that. I mean, me and my bodies just left the game multiplayer wise, because we were part of the alpha clan and we were constructing a huge city as our endgame, aaaand they server dissappeared. Hours and hours of work into the dumpster.
But the reason I’m making the post is just because of that. PVP is just not ready, too many problems. I see solo/co-op as the most suited survival option for this survival game. So, an expansión with lots of stuff could pull the players into solo/co-op while they fix Multiplayer, player cap, and all that stuff.
I know the feeling man
they are not taking good care of their player base, that’s for sure.
Happy new year Exiles.

The current regions are huge, but because they are effectively ‘static’, one players are familiar, boredom can kick in. Only on private servers where admins start making things more interesting or challenging, does that interest kinda carry on. And it is not a case of adding dungeons as those are worse - once done they are ‘solved’. Adding building dlcs also gets a little boring because they are in very broad ways reskins (kinda).
I think the following would add some interesting mechanics:
- having roaming groups of npcs, akin to purges, jogging about attacking players (and ignoring and being ignored by all animals;
- Randomised spawns of some legendary creatures that are extra-hard to kill, or that can be interacted with if beaten;
- Adding some real nasties to all lakes and seas;
- talking seas, can anyone imagine the high quality smoothness and finesse of Conan movement if the seas near the Buccaneers is expanded and allows ships…? lol
…and just remember that a lot of ark (and their ‘atlas dlc’ cash-cow) is water, not land - and Subnautica does that better. (do not get me started on the jankiness of the land movement and what passes for ‘animals’. Horrible. lol
not exactly what u expect but at test live they adding more powerful variants of animals wich will drop deamon blood, they are suposed to be bigger, more hp, dmg, and have if iam remember 2% chance to spawn wherever animaps spawns
btw i want ships too
WoW tried this with Cata. It didn’t work as well. I really think CE needs new biomes, fast. Or at least a pack or new dungeons, well made dungeons with good replayability.
These are all great ideas… the game is getting stale and fast. A big see could save it.
We all want ships. Funcom knows this.
They’ve been promesing new dungeons since forever. I don’t know what’s the hold up, but based on the quality and replayability of the current dungeons, I don’t think that would be enough to keep the player base around, clearly not their strongest point at Funcom.
Not all of us. Though it (inexplicably) does seem a popular suggestion. Inexplicably because none of the gameplay in CE so far supports ships: no water combat, no mounted combat, no large bodies of water, a focus on building which is by definition a land-based activity…
So I really don’t get the call for it. I suppose it might just be the recent plethora of pirate-themed games, and people think if CE had ships we’d get that gameplay or something?
