Is there some kind of Conan lore that has the sun rising in the south and setting in the north? I enjoy the realism and artwork in the game and I’m particular about realistic limitations… (especially when it comes to unlimited encumberance). But it seems odd that the path of the Sun is different in Conans world. Since the Earth rotates the same way since before time, either the Suns path should be changed, or the map should be rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise… which would also be odd because the snow covered lands would be to the west.

Yeah, this has bugged me ever since I noticed it too.
I suppose it could simply a product of whatever weird Giant-King magicks are at work in the area, but I feel like if it were it would be mentioned in a journal or something.
…Or maybe somebody at Funcom just decided they really liked the way the sun lit up the cliffs north and south of the river at sunrise and sunset or something, I don’t know.

Yeah, i almost put this in a bug report back in May, it’s the reason i stopped asking for a compass

Perhaps in the Hyborian Age the earth’s axis was tilted. Or perhaps the magnetic poles had shifted and our North is just where the compass would align to North.

Or to confuse and disorientated the prisoners the magic used to confine the exiles has disordered the map and compass markers so we have a harder time escaping…
Just use whatever random story argument you prefer to resolve this anomaly…

It’s probably just a mistake, but as others have said there’s plenty of in-world scope for suggesting this is an “Exiled Lands” anomaly - albeit not one acknowledged by any of the characters, to my knowledge?
I mean the Exiled Lands already don’t make much sense geographically speaking, which is fine since it’s literally “A Wizard Did It”.
Would be cool if it was done on purpose just to f–k with people, adding to the “wrongness”.

sun originates west from seper. check it out, it pops out of the ground/horizon like a balloon pulled out.
watch that from the green wall behind west prison.
The moon travels from west to east also, which isn’t correct either. Maybe I really bought a game called the Matrix and at some point my character wakes up in a goo pod.

are we talking about south as in the bottom of the map or the in game south which is actually a different direction?

I mean… it doesn’t really matter… we already have a 4th wall breaking Character in the game, that even denies the very existance of our character XD
Yeah this was brought up repeatedly in early access. Seeing how release went…now we know why.
