Hi, I’m new to this game – actually new to the open-world survival genre. I’m on the PS4.
I’ve noticed that the sun rises in the (map’s) south rather than the east. Since I sometimes use the sun for orientation (as opposed to referring to the map all the time), can you change the direction of the light source or change the map so that they agree
I can’t remember now the direction the sun comes up, I haven’t really paid much attention even when I played. I use the map and my position on it with landmarks to get an orientation fix.
I would assume most feel that looking at the map, it’s laid out with North on the upper part where the Volcano is, while you start in the south.
Maybe a simpler solution is to change your way of thinking while in the game. If the sun comes up from the southern desert, treat that as being east.
So the volcano is to the west, the Relic Hunter place is south, and the bay area is to the north.
Just assume that this anomaly is due to the green barrier wall and/or bracelet we wear and/or a feature of the land we’ve been exiled to or it’s deliberate on the part of those who exiled us here to hinter us successfully escaping.
As it’s consistent simply adjust how you view that orientating item in relation to the provided layout …
Exactly. It’s a European tradition to place north on the top of the map, but some other civilizations have put east, west or even south on the top edge of the map.
Could be worse. It could be like Monster Hunter World.
The sun rises in the West. Then sets in the West.
The moon does the exact same.
I noticed it while in the Ancient Forest. It could have been east. But there is no getting around the sun/moon both rise and set in the same direction.
Go to Area 1 in the Ancient Forest. Stand near the cliff overlooking the beach. Astera to your right. The SW camp to your left.
The sun/moon will be off to your left, farther out over the sea from the camp. It’ll go straight up. Then it’ll come right back down, after which the moon pops up.
Sure, but when you listen to Braga, or Argos the Wanderer, is not what they say.
They speak well about north, the forzen north, weast, the Barrow King, and so on.
But i tried to forget such details in games mostly. I mean, i get easily focused on little thing that don’t fit in my world view, so i try not to add more to my list mostly.
So, for me each can admit all he/her want, for me the sun, well it indicate me it’s day in the exiled lands, and i let it at that, simpler for me.
I think the sun movements is an homage to the south is where you start and the journey north is the path the game presents you with.
The moon starts in the west and heads to the east. Like the moon wants you to go the jungle.
But that is just my thoughts on the matter.
