Why keep changing your guild name?

I’m on Official PVP server 2807 and there is a group of players that keep changing their guild name. Is there an advantage to that?

Other than to annoy you, I can’t think of one. Maybe they think constantly renaming themselves tricks everyone.

Or maybe they’re just indecisive?

Rather than try to keep up, why not just name them yourselves? Or use a symbol, like Prince. :upside_down_face:

Because old buiilding will not refresh the name change before server restart (new build things will appear on new name) so in fact this an exploit that fc let happens for more than 6 months… alowwing to have on map building with 2 differents clan name (before server finally restart)

There ya go. Learn something new everyday, sneaky

The thing is, the servers restart every day.
So having different name’s on owned buildings is irrelevant.

When I still played we knew who owned what and where all the time.
And “New” building were placed under suspicion as soon as found.

Keep track of who is on your server, and clan names won’t matter.

@Barnes my friend, do you have any incites on this issue?

Back in the day we used to see a “0 day decay glitch” where a thing would happen and their buildings would be undecayable and unnamed. I think it’s long been established jumping Clan names helps muddy the Event Log.

However it looks like @azaroth has hit the nail on the head. If done right after server restart, one has a whole day to keep exploiting the issue. Secondarily my assumption is it makes it difficult to reason who’s building a raid base when you’ve never seen the Clan name before. Edit: (And the old clan name is still in existence where we expected it to be. )

This sort of thing can sometimes fool a player with a repair hammer.

It doesn’t do anything to hide them from admins needing to do their work.

yup this is sadly exactly what happens, as server restart are daily local time at 5;15 am, but people that use that, manage it in regards of pvp time.

time to fix that for funcom.

It used to be most advantageous when the player list was invisible. Now no dice because if they change it while you’re online you can see the new clan name.

There’s other sneaky things about it too, like adding new players, alts or cycling new names in.

Always screws shit up if you see in your event log a player name you don’t recognize with a clan name you don’t either.

There’s a couple on my PvE server that does this every so often. Not sure why. They’ve been everything from Muffin Smashers to Beach Bums, to Texas Republicans to the latest, “FukBiden.” So… my guess is they just have nothing better to do.

Some people just swap cause they like a new name more. I used to frequently before I decided to stick with the one I now have. It’s not always about trying to exploit.

Maybe they are not informed that the purge system is changed. Too many pvp players don’t give a dime for pve, and changing your clan name was refreshing your purge meter.

Maybe long ago but it didn’t do that recently (before new purge).

You had to remake the clan to do that.

Not like it matters for the new purge system anymore.
