Wild animals is too slow

Hello there! I playing in Conan Exiles for a long time and I couldn’t help but notice that player can easily run away from any of animal. It’s kinda weird when trueborn hunter like Jaguar or Lion can’t catch human. When you in danger you can run away, jump in water or just climb on tree/rock and etc. There is a feeling that you on a morning walk but not in wild world where you fight for you life. The game must be a bit more challenging.

It’s unrealistic, perhaps, but on the other hand, it’s a game. If wild animals could catch us like in real life, they’d easily chase down and kill low-level characters, who’d probably lose their gear because they couldn’t get it back (the animal still being nearby).

Also, having been chased by a Corrupted Wolf through a dense forest in the middle of a night without a light source was one of the most intense moments in my Conan Exiles career even though I managed to escape in the end. And that was me at max level with epic/legendary gear.

(The second place goes to being chased by a Giant Spider. It was so close to me that I could see the hairy front legs on my screen while desperately dashing away. Gods, I hate spiders when they grow bigger than an outhouse.)

Of course our weapons in the game could do something against them, if in reality stone age people killed them with stone age weapons, then we would easily be able to kill them with bows, steel javelins, steel arrows and whatnot.

In fact, killing them with stone weapons in the game is kinda hard to do, especially elephants since some time. If you want to do it with those weapons you need to do it in a group… Just like the stone age people did it…

Well be glad if you’re in the our house cause you won’t have to clean up that when it scares you :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

If I could add something is crocodile attack. Crocodiles are extremely dangerous in the water, so the fact that they don’t swim is making our life very easy. I remember my first days in this game trying to avoid to enter the water when a crocodile was close, I did not knew that they don’t swim :rofl::rofl:.

Yes, this is called game balance.

Gods! Can you imagine the screams (virtual and literal) if spiders scuttled and jumped like real ones? If all of the animals, npcs, fish were more realistic - and let’s not forget the dragons. Look at the ‘anger’ when elephants were updated to hit really, really Hard  @Kapoteeni - yeah, running really fast from a horde of spiders has been fun. Some will have noticed that there are some creatures that have been made faster too. One of the reasons I still love the game - the long grind processes mixed in with actual fear and fleeing (once off a cliff, but at least the wolf didn’t kill me - the ground did).
Things are amped up on some private servers where unkind Admins add stronger and weaker creatures in amongst the regular spawn types of the area. I ran through an area that obviously was a spawning area for scorpions because there were about 10+ little scorpions that swarmed. Who knew their venom was as nasty as their parents…
I still would like to see some trapdoor spiders, giant ant-lions in deserts and perhaps some crocs/sharks/anaconda that skulk in the shallows.
I love that the undead are actively corrupting as well - i wish they could generate cold and darkness too.

Yes they could, but low-level characters coud climb away from danger. Even on trees that you can chop It’s the first step of the first chapter in “The Exiles journey”. So why climbing need in game when you simple run away? And animals have agro radius. You can easy spot them before they attack. I’m not ask to make realism or another ARK. Just make more interesting gameplay thats all.

You said you’ve been playing Conan Exiles for a long time. If the gameplay is not interesting enough for you without severely unbalancing it and adding unnecessary AI strain on the servers, then maybe the issue at hand is that you’re getting bored with this game?

If I had to pick something to make Conan Exiles more interesting, making wildlife more realistic wouldn’t be near the top of my list, considering all the other room for improvement it already has. And let’s face it, making a dungeon or a boss fight more interesting is would not only make the game better, it would add less strain on the servers. One boss with complex AI will still consume less resources than scores of wolves with improved AI.

I’m not bored. Gameplay is interesting, but it could be better. I understand what you talking about. I’m just write what in my opinion must be improved. I’m not insist that animal behavior must be at the top of development list, just in case.
