Will a European copy of the game still get updates on an American PS4?

I have an American PS4 and live in the US, but I bought a European copy of the game (a physical copy if that make a difference). I know that I can only buy DLC if I make a European PSN account and buy it on the playstation store through that, but will my copy still receive game updates? Thanks in advance.
