You know that feeling when you’re out with friends at a restaurant, you all order pretty much the same thing and you’re the last one to get your plate when everyone else is pretty much done?
Hi Funcom, this is the Xbox community. Please bring our updates all out of the same time. It’s not our fault that you guys incompetently fumble xbox’s certification processes when you know damn well your expectations and competencies.
Round 2 of not getting timely updates. PC and PS folks, I envy you.
The ‘ Has NOT passed certification yet’ part. I don’t envy PC and PlayStation getting the updates before Xbox. I’d rather not have a half baked update brick my game. So I’m perfectly content to wait.
They said they were waiting on certification in November, and now they’ve posted today saying the same thing, basically. I’m betting the plan is to deal with the server count bug in the Spring. The 8 players left will be in for a treat.
November certification probably failed. MS QC pretty strict compared to Steam. What may be fine for Steam, MS may go nope, fix it properly. One of the reasons Xbox certification takes ages. It’s not new, nor is it just Funcom. There’s plenty of posts asking why certifications take forever for Xbox stretching back over a decade.
Yeah but I don’t want us to get into the position we were in in early 2020 where each version of the game was on different patches for months on end.
I play PS so I’m relatively spoiled compared to Xbox for the tenure of my gameplay. I think it was back in 2021 that they decided that updates wouldn’t happen without all versions of the game ready and they have stuck with this rule until now. Sure they can wiggle word around it and say hotfixes aren’t updates but that is a copout. Either they have left their policy of all releases at the same time or they are pulling back due to numbers on Xbox (like they did with gamepass access a few months ago but PS + extra still has it).
If it is the later, that is a very hard conversation to have because some of the xbox crew have been around forEVER and I don’t like to see them go but if it’s not profitable, then its cancerous. That’s just hard business facts.
Apparently Conan Exiles was actually supposed to be pulled from Gamepass earlier than it was. Third party games typically spend around 6 months on Gamepass (they also occasionally rotate back in)
