Yamatai Playable Character

I just want to make the suggestion of adding the Yamatai race to the line up of playable characters.

I understand there are issues with lore and them fitting in REH’s universe, but i am looking past that in favour of gameplay and what has already been added to the game.

In recent additions, Funcom has doubled down on their inclusion and gone as far as expanding the relevant build set. I think everyone can agree that it’s good stuff and there is obviously an interest for it.

It could even be expanded upon by adding a new religion of the Golden Phoenix to suit.

I personally find it odd that we didn’t have a Yamatai PC race to begin with since they added a whole themed DLC around them. I think they added Khitan race with that DLC although I might be wrong about that.

It wouldn’t even be a hard thing to do since race offers little other than a flavour text for your character, if you’re even into that and i think the RP community would love it, plus a new religion.

Lastly, I would like add my two cents on how they could be added.

Unfortunately, we don’t have DLC anymore and they just canned the Battle Pass which is how i would have like to see it be introduced.

We only have the dreaded Black Lotus Bazaar now. Strangely, even to myself, I actually came to enjoy the BP for this purpose. It added to the story and could easily be themed, plus you didn’t need to engage it if you didn’t want to in the same way you didn’t “need” to buy DLC. The BP was the new DLC in a way.

I really hope this new time to develop we sacrificed the BP for allowes the game to be in the place it should be technically now.

I know this last part is a little of topic of the original post, but I believe it is relevant.

Appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

As an addition to the original post and to help “flesh out” the idea, i wound be great to actually get a meaningful hand to hand ability though i don’t know how that would work with the current arrangement.

You can already play a Yamatai character. You simply have to use the customization options available.

The races in character creation are only presets. For example if you choose Kushite, you can change the face, skin color, hair style, and hair color to look like an Aesir. No one would ever know you chose Kushite in the beginning.

In fact when I make a new character, I usually don’t even change the race from whatever was selected.

Yes, I understand that, but that’s not what I’m asking for. As silly as it may sound, that kind of stuff actually matters to me. I would like the simple addition of the race and the attached lore that would come with it.

So silly it is to the point where I’m not going make a character without the race preset. I did consider using a Hyborian coverall, but I’ve already used them a few times with the other missing cultures. But they are not as obvious.

It also should be noted that I only play on single player and I have multiple characters (thanks to Multichar) and the race is displayed upon character selection.
