Things missing from Yamatai DLC!

WHy are there no Kimonos in the Yamatai DLC? i feel like that is one of the most iconic garments in the japanese culture and it wasnt implemented in this DLC.

Personally I’d have liked to see some cool colorful Japanese-style tattoos as warpaint options, though I can see why they didn’t do that.

I do think that formal kimono wouldn’t work in this game, given how they’re supposed to make the wearer pretty much look like a cylinder with arms, with all the restriction of movement that goes along with that, and this game involves a lot of moving. Either it would look terrible, or they’d have to come up with a whole new set of animations just for one garment which, yeah, they’re not gonna do. A more loose, casual style might work though.

The kimonos you see the men wearing in the old Shogun tv series might work out. I’ve seen them in other media where one arm is bared to add mobility to the weapon arm. I’ve always liked that look.

yeah i see what you mean

Being inked myself, I’ll always agree with any idea add in additional decorative warpaints.

I also highly recommend you watch Shogun and read the book as well. It’s based in the Sengoku and it is just SO freaking good. He renames the historical figures, but a number of those in the Sengoku appear or are mentioned. Even better, it isn’t all subtitled.

Parts of it where the Englishman are present, he has someone translate, or the narrator gives it in English. In others where only Japanese are present, subtitles are used. It’s very immersive.

Also it’s so good, they are going to do a remake of it sometime this year or next.
