Yes. new forum hype!

But then some of the moderators and/or community managers would need to continue monitoring and maintaining the Steam Forums, which is what they’re trying to avoid. If they left the Steam Forums open without supervision, the trolls and haters would take full advantage of that; it’d be a mess in pretty short order.

Besides, you can exactly get upset that they wont keep something up they no longer need. That is alot of work moderating a bunch of Forums they aren’t even using. It’s true it might be inconvenient for those already using it, but when they start getting upset cause no Devs are participating in Forum then the extra work is for naught.

As an Xbox player I have to admit that it was jarring to get info from Steam as it didn’t always translate well. This may not be the way everyone would have wanted it, but ideally it is for everyone.

I for one am looking forward to the mix.

You have worked hard on this, cheers! Quite an achievement.

Steam Fora – don’t get me started on the fauna  – are best purposed for the crafting of guides, Q&A and Help files, Workshops, etc. Now that EA is almost over, all that stuff (call it collectively STEAMFAQ) can be pared for easy search and reference. All the best info can then be curated here, as I’ve seen some members already hard at work. I think this move will be beneficial to CE players, because you won’t need to drill through the demoralizing chaff of repeat questions and ill behavior.

You do realize that by locking the steam forums, all of those trolls and haters will be coming here then, right?? This place will be full of all of the complaints people have regarding the game. Now, if the mods start deleting any negative comment/thread, that will just prove them right regarding why they believe the steam forums are being locked down, which is to control information regarding the game.

They don’t have to moderate the steam forums, they should just leave them alone rather than lock them. I’ve never heard of any game actually locking their forums. I have games that aren’t even available on steam that still have active forums. Now sure, like others have said, it’ll turn into a cesspool of piss and vinegar, but it’ll give people a place to release all of that. That way this forum can be exactly how you said it…“for fans, not for haters”.

I also don’t really buy their excuse for wanting to consolidate information in one spot. If that were truly the case, then why are they promoting a discord channel at the top of this forum?? A fan-made discord channel to boot.

Isn’t that technically why this forum was made?? To find people to play with, talk about the game, and share your thoughts/feedback so everything is nice and consolidated?? o_O

If you go in with an open mind that Steam is only for PC players i think you will after a while see that this move is for all of Funcoms player base. Not only for PC but also for Xbox and PS4. I understand those on Steam complain about this but i think this Will be better in the end and it will the best for Conan Exiles.

Exactly this. Having information for everyone across PC, Xbox, and soon, PS4 in one place that everyone can know they can go to will be best I believe. I understand not everyone has Twitter or goes to Reddit. And Xbox players certainly don’t visit Steam in many cases. And again, we’re going to be posting announcements and such in the “news” section for Steam.

This forum is set up nicely. I like the way I can navigate through it and how topics with nothing new in it turn grey and go to the top of the list. I like how it shows avatars of some of the most recent posters in a thread. Only thing that might turn people off is signing in to another account with another password. The thing that makes steam nice is that all your game forums are under one account with one password for multiple games. I think that is slowly becoming a thing of the past and maybe for the best. Steam shouldn’t be the one source monopoly for gaming on PC anyway.

Sorry, but I have to drop this here (trying to upload a screenshot now):

“Sorry, new users can not upload images.”

Ok…guess not then… :frowning:

Edit: Ok, I just became trusted after writing this post…HARHARHAR…

And Discord! A lot of Funcom activity there, as well! :relaxed::+1:t2:

A dedicated FunCom forum that all platform users can easily use is a great idea and why would the company that made the game not have their own dedicated place for players to discuss? Besides, Nicole has a social life too…think of that? You don’t want her to be a lonely old maid because she had to spend ALL her time moderating 19 different forms of social media, right? Exactly.

Heya. So that Discord wasn’t made by the Devs and is moderated by the community. I’ve actually spoken to them about making it an official place, but they politely declined. They have titles there and visit when they can, but it’s life and upkeep is community done. They promote it because we asked them nicely and they were kind enough to oblige.

Well done. I’m enjoying the forum and the game and I completely understand the reasoning for centralizing your information on your forums. Not only is it more efficient but it also allows you to enforce your forum rules easier. We did the same for a modding community from Nexus. Sure we got complaints but its still the biggest and most popular mod for fallout 4 so obviously the community adapted. Looking forward to official launch!

This forum looks awesome!
There are so many dull ones, nice to see one that is unusual in a very good and refreshing way! I like it!

I thought this place would be more active

not immediately no. An established community like steam is always going to put up a little fight when they are redirected to a new community. Its a very common issue but unlike many failed attempts by other split communities in the past, funcom already had an active community prior to inviting conan exiles to the fold. I dont expect there to be any long term communication setbacks due to the move to their personal forums.

I imagine it’ll pick up once more people learn about it. Since it’s brand new, we still have people gradually coming in. There’s a lull as well since Xbox hasn’t had a patch in a while, same as PC. Once we pop those out, more will come. Same as PS4 when that’s out!
