A huge quest. At least another 10,000 hours of gameplay

First of all, I love Conan Exiles. For me it is a game that is more than fun. It is a masterpiece with infinite potential, but unfortunately, that potential is not being used well. And the reason for this is simple: it lacks a big objective. I, as a player, want to play Conan for life. But it is difficult to continue when you do not have a big goal to achieve. And when I speak big, it’s really big. So these past few days I have been thinking about how the game could become something interesting for everyone again and I came up with an idea that could yield the community years of gaming. The idea is quite simple. A great quest.

First of all, the quest will be based on a slave master NPC. This NPC will tell you the story of the stars. Of the beings that inhabit a constellation to the south of the Polar Star. He will tell that once he can also know these beings personally, but that today he no longer has access. However, the path of the stars has not yet been lost and that if you are able to bring the 10 sheets of the star book, it will show you the way.

So the first objective is to find the 10 leaves around the world. They can be in dungeons, bosses or simply loose places on the floor.

After delivering the 10 pages to the NPC, he will give you an item that will give you access to the size of the stars. There you will find several NPCs, which will give you rewards for performing your tasks. Each NPC will have a book with a list that they need to complete.

The first NPC is TinStar, he will ask you to bring ALL warrior minions named LV20.

Reward: Minion Metius, the warrior of the stars.

The second NPC is MeteorStar, he will ask you to bring ALL archer minions named LV20

Reward: Retainer Tiesa, the arc of the constellations.

The third NPC is CastoStar, he will ask you to bring ALL the minions named alchemists.

Reward: Minion Firium, the hand of galaxies.

The fourth NPC is TitonStar, he will ask you to bring ALL the minions named LV20 artists.

Reward: Minion Nastya, the star guide.

The fifth NPC is DidaStar, he will ask you to bring ALL the minions named armorers.

Reward: Minion Hysty, the power of heaven.

The sixth NPC is ManaStar, he will ask you to bring ALL the minions named blacksmiths.

Reward: Minion Trostis, fourth dimension.

The Seventh NPC is DarkStar, he will ask you to bring ALL the minions named founders.

Reward: Minion Monotis, Son of the Star Forge.

The eighth NPC is CanoSTar, he will ask you to bring ALL the minions named Priests.

Reward: Retainer Ruristias, the blessing of the universe.

The Ninth NPC is Faustar, who will ask you to bring ALL the minions named overseers.

Reward: Minion Fanastias, the comet-chaser.

The tenth NPC is JulianStar, he will ask you to bring ALL the minions named tanners.

Reward: Minion Wists, Star Dust

The eleventh NPC is DeliStar, he will ask you to bring ALL the minions named cooks.

Reward: Minion Belis, the Paradise Mana.

Now comes the NPCS who serve the Stars.

MarkStar NPC, this one will ask you to bring resources like 10,000 star ores, 10,000 black ice, 10,000 star metal and 10,000 obsidian metal.

Reward: Construction scroll with Metal from the stars.

NPC TarkStar, this one will ask you to bring all the armor in the game, at all levels.

Reward: Scroll of the metal armor of the stars.

NPC Zarkstar, this one will ask you to bring all resources like 10,000 human hearts, 10,000 immaculate flesh, 10,000 persistent essence, 10,000 Ice fragments, 10,000 sacred blood and 10,000 Chip of the Unrealized.

Reward: Star God Temple Scroll.

I really hope I can help build a game that I play until my old age.

I hope someone sees this.

I personally would love quests in CE as well though this won’t ever happen since it’s not a RPG or MMORPG. That said, what you described sounds like the worst Form of a quest, it’s not really a quest but more like just a dragged out, insane grind.

Quests should have an engaging story line and interesting goals that you need to achieve and even better, multiple possible outcomes. But simply farming countless hours for some named thrall and gathering 10k materials is just… “Meh” at best and I would probably never attempt to complete this quest because it doesn’t differ from the normal gameplay experience at all besides dragging it to unbearable lengths.

I really loved your review. It made me see it from another angle. But that does not mean that the idea cannot be improved. Continuing with the same as usual does not pay for players who are already aware of the whole game. Perhaps what I have proposed is a little exaggerated and can be improved, but I am still trying to improve what many abandon.

Hello, I agree with Faust in the sense that all ideas should be workshopped to see if it becomes viable. That being said perhaps the first step is to work out how to make the idea less “grindy” by placing more emphasis on narrative choices. I propose modelling your quest on an “if/then” model. This is a good way make the gamer in more control over destiny, or the fate of the character and quest. Grinding is just collecting. But perhaps if you place choices at strategic junctions then outcomes become unpredictable. “If” the character chooses to not collect that, “then” this next thing happens, etc. it would become complicated, but might be more of a worthwhile quest in the end. My contribution to your quest - what you describe is changing the lore away from what we read in the Hyborian Age. Instead, try to model the characters and rewards using the discourse found in Robert E Howard stories. Think of it like a set of boundaries. Keep within the Howardian boundaries and you will sustain the essence of Conanism in your quest development.

Keep going. It sounds interesting. You should post version two when you have it ready.

Thank you for your comment. You made the difference between just criticizing and dismissing the idea. I will study more about Conan as a story to refine the idea. Once again, congratulations on your comments. They helped me a lot.

I saw your comment I like the mentality behind your idea but it could be improved. I love mmo’s and I wish Conan was more of a survival/mmo than whatever mess it is right now. If they stopped focusing on pvp and fully delve into improving pve they could really enrich the world with more activities to do. I do feel the game is missing unique trophies or rewards that a player can proudly display or show off. You know in the lore Conan is always seeking a goal or reward out of most of his adventures, like in the tower of the elephant when he was trying to steal the great gem. Why not give the players unique trophies that can only be obtained once but are quite hard to obtain. Like an Easter egg hunt or puzzle to complete around the world then put all the pieces together to create a golden statue, mask, you name it. It could also be a unique mount or mount skin.

Same with legendary weapons or armors, they could make world bosses drop scraps daily ( in game days ), certain bosses drop certain scraps for different weapons or armors and once you hit the required amount an specific armorer or blacksmith can make the weapon/armor once but it can be repaired with legendary repair kits.
As of now legendaries don’t feel legenadary at all. I have many ideas for Conan but some may not work. They could also slow down the overall speed of each day to make it more meaningful.

I encourage you to share your ideas. I am interested in reading them.
