Here are some of my suggestions

Hello Dev Team,

I have a few suggestions that I am sure you have heard before but I am going to put them out there anyway:

  1. Add more endgame dungeons (mainly for exiled lands) with challenging boss encounters that drop unique gear and cosmetic items, with a low chance of getting Crom Coins. Also, there would be an imprisoned thrall that you could free sometimes.

  2. Add male and female concubines to the game. There would basically be a new interactable thrall type called a concubine and they would provide for a new need called “pleasure” for your character. this need would not be as demanding as food or water and would provide you with a buff based on how sated it was. Things that increase pleasure that concubines provided would include but not be limited to: massages, playing music, intimacy (think sims 4). They would also provide the option for children. This would be another type of thrall that grows slowly into a new tier (5) and they could lead other groups of thralls as leaders of units. I know this can be a touchy subject and bring a lot of complications when you are dealing with children in such a violent game, but it’s been done in games like Fable and if done tastefully I think it would add a lot to the RP element.

  3. Add new types of thralls called miners/farmers etc. and have it to where they collect resources slowly over time based on the area they are in. Giving them a certain tool would increase the number of certain types of resources they produced based on which one you gave them.

  4. Add PVP arena tournaments that happen every three hours or so that you can sign up for. After you sign up you would be given a random opponent (hard NPC if no other players sign up) and you would need to be in the staging area within a certain time frame or forfeit the match. This would always be limited to a certain amount of players (first come first serve) and the tournament would last about an hour. If the contenders were just running around then there would be NPCs released as the match went on which would get progressively harder until a player died. In the end, the player who took the most damage loses if a tie; If player vs NPC then NPC alive always wins the tie without the need for other NPCs. Winning would of course provide currency and unique rewards, including special concubine thralls in rare instances.

  5. Add 3 types of quests to the game. -Replayable quests that reward certain types of resources/currency (These would have a cooldown period) -Story quests that became progressively harder and were intertwined with the new dungeon system; this would explain and progress the story of Conan exiles to an ending that didn’t kill your character :P. -Family quests that would be adventures for things your family (concubines/children) would want or need.

The things I’ve recommended, along with the regular content you plan to add with ages would set CE apart from any other games in the genre.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. Please add balanced combat spells and baths/pools to the game!

Totally down for this. More content is always appreciated

Concubines, sure. Children? Not so much. In a game of enslavement and murder, adding children to it seems like a good way to bring in lawsuits. Not to mention there are some real creeps out there, and we don’t want to attract them to the game either.

A common request, and one that will probably not be implemented for various reasons. I also think they’d be cool, but how would you balance such a thing? If you make them too efficient, then no one will play the game and instead just autofarm it. If they’re not efficient enough, then they’ll be a waste of a thrall slot. And finding the balance between the two will be near impossible, as each player’s needs and wants are completely different from person to person.

I’m down with that. As I said earlier in point 1, more content is always appreciated

Not sure how I feel on this one. We already have the “break the bracelet” quest, and other than that, Conan is very much a game that lives and dies by the players making their own content. I don’t think that adding these quests will be a significant improvement to the game, especially for the development time needed to implement them. Still, I’d love to be proven wrong. More content is always good.

More spells = More content, so yes please!
Baths/Pools- YES PLEASE! My warrior is sexy and needs to show of those pecks in something other than a well.

My only argument about the children aspect is that it’s already been done in violent games such as Fable and Skyrim, and was more of an RP element. It was dealt with by just making the children unkillable. Maybe they just despawn if worse comes to worst but I don’t think it would be a legal issue as long as they aren’t treated as slaves; the same goes for intimacy with concubines where it would be on more of a consensual basis. As for creeps and perverts, they are everywhere and modders are going to do what they do either way.

Precisely why there is no need, scratch that, no reason at all to introduce concubines or children.

You can use mods for your weird stuff. If there isn’t a mod for it already, then whatever it is is probably weird enough to warrant a therapist.

I really dislike how you filed those two things in the same drawer…

You might also want to rephrase that…

As for the rest:

Dungeons are always welcome, miner / farmer NPCs are most likely not going to be a thing due to already having “too much” stuff and the developers probably want to make changes that promote the hoarding of LESS stuff / thralls rather than the opposite at this point since their official servers aren’t even capable of running on the old gportal hardware anymore and consoles are also having serious performance issues. To some extent they’re even pushing PC and the UE4 engine limits.

Pretty much the same applies to most stuff there, even the dungeons to some extent. This age of sorcery was a bit of a test I guess and imo unless they start applying some high level tricks and optimization, their subsequent ages are in for a bit of a halt. (Probably why we haven’t heard any announcements of the next age even though if they kept up with their 3 month schedule, that should already be on testlive by now). So imo. adding even more content atm regardless of the type is a bit iffy until they either find a way to optimize enough to deal with some of the console crisis at least or make a decision to give them a separate “dumbed down” version.
Ofc I’m just speculating here, but I don’t think it’s a secret that there have been some issues and not everything went according to plan

In the long run if their money pans out really well… who knows… if we want to be hopeful and optimistic, with enough funds and demand we might even see it migrate to a newer engine in time that will allow for far more possibilities and way better performance, though right now I’m not holding my breath for that.

I mean I respect your opinion but disagree. I prefer official servers and content over modded simply because of three reasons. 1. running the game on your PC without the map being on a dedicated server is horrible for performance and even worse if you add mods. 2. Trying to find a server with mods you want and don’t along with a decent ping and server type is next to impossible. 3. Modders tend to abandon their work.

For anyone talking about how having concubines or children is in some way a weird fetish and they do not relate to one another I would say it’s 100% immersive with the game’s barbaric nature and survival aspect. The most powerful would take as many concubines as they wanted (or didn’t), not just for pleasure but to produce offspring. In the world of Conan, this would NO DOUBT be the norm and it would most likely be worse. As a reminder, this is a game where you beat people with clubs and slit their throats on alters. It’s rated M for a reason.

Weird isn’t my major issue.

My major issue is it would add about as much gameplay value as creating heated toll bridge next to the bridge of betrayer for me.

I respect that, but I’m a PvE player who enjoys occasional PvP, leans heavily toward the RP element of the game, and would like to see more. My apologies, I guess I should have stated that; I just figured it would be obvious.

Lol I fixed it for those of you who were confused. Thanks for the input.

This can’t be stressed enough.

I still remember when getting bark was so damn hard, we all resorted to killing the Black Hand NPCs because that would yield more than using a pick on a tree.

The game has gone really, really far in the other direction. I don’t know what things are like on Siptah, but in Exiled Lands, it’s ridiculously easy to farm every resource you need, you just have to learn how and where.

Every time I’ve heard someone complain about how they can’t get enough of some resource, it turned out that they just didn’t know the game well enough.

We really don’t need miners and farmers. Some might want them for RP purposes, but hey, that’s what mods are for.

You hit the nail on the head right there for me. I feel like I spend more time researching how, where and what online than actually enjoying the game. The game needs to be more informative and streamlined. It feels like Elder Ring trying to “just figure it out” sometimes; without the rewarding boss fights.

Yea, I think it’s better that way

And regardless of the rating of the game, whether it’s adult-only or not, there are very and I mean very strict guidelines when it comes to portraying kids in videogames. So what Skyrim did is pretty much the most you can do to even feature them in an RPG…
However Conan has native nudity so it simply does not mix even in the Skyrim style.

Btw, there are also strict rules when it comes to modding such things, pretty much every major modding site has some sort of an agreement banning any mod that even affects them for the most part. Going with the Skyrim example, you can make a mod that affects kids faces and hair etc, which there are a couple of, however if you start making their clothes shorter or revealing in any way, you WILL get in trouble for it and your mod will be removed. So no… modders won’t do that either!

I hope that clarifies this better, I can totally understand why Funcom would never want to open that can of worms… and as @Tuffman pointed out… it does not add enough significant gameplay value even if the family aspect can be appealing for a RP server, in the limited form it would be possible in, it wouldn’t really count there either… you’re better off having pets, which you can already have

That’s a good point… Well played. I play with nudity off so it’s not something I think about.

I understand that we all enjoy the game differently, so I’ll try to be as polite and respectful as I can, but there’s one thing I have to try to point out: have you tried not doing your research online?

True, there are things that the game doesn’t explain very well, and I will stand right beside you and chide Funcom for it. For example, how do you craft hardened steel? How do you craft bread? There are crafting recipes that are impossible to figure out without throwing science at the wall to see what sticks.

That said, those things are few. The stuff I’m talking about can be discovered by actually playing the game, which I find a lot more enjoyable than looking for that information online.

These are some examples:

  • Oh, look at that, I harvested 12 dragon horns from the adult green dragon! Now I know how to get dragon horns easily.
  • Ooh, you can get 60 demon blood from the spider boss? That’s handy!
  • Wow, I had no idea this place existed! It’s really spooky. Oh, and look, there are two spider bosses here!
  • Hey, I discovered yet another chest with a fragment of power in the Unnamed City! That makes 10 I’ve discovered all on my own.
  • Huh, I thought there were only two gold rocknoses in the volcano, but I just found a third!
  • Man, this Mass Cull spell is awesome! Now I don’t have to spend half an hour chopping down the whole Oasis of Nekhet, I can just go there and cast some spells.
  • Holy crap, this T4 taskmaster is a guaranteed spawn! That’ll be helpful the next time I create a character on a new server.
  • Wait, I get 3 thick hides from 2 bear pelts by doing this? That’ll improve my thick leather yield by a whopping 50%!

I could keep going, but I think I got my point across. Every single one of those discoveries felt awesome. Well, except for the T4 taskmaster, because I didn’t discover that on my own. Instead, I was told by a friendly player on the same server.

Which brings me to my next point: everywhere I’ve played, there have always been people happy to share information. Granted, I don’t play on PVP servers, so it might be more hostile there, but PVE(-C) servers are full of helpful people.

There are those who will help you out by giving you stuff, but I much prefer those who help you out by teaching you stuff. And vice versa, it feels nice when I help out a fellow player learn something new.

Anyway, apologies for this little rant. It was offered with the best intentions. I sometimes complain too much about this game and its problems, I honestly just wanted to share one of the things that make me love Conan Exiles

I hear what you’re saying, I enjoy finding out things naturally too, but I feel like the aspect in your quote is a little (and by little I mean a LOT) downplayed. There are so many things that I’ve researched that just make you go “uhhh…how was I ever supposed to figure that out?” or “Damn, I wonder how long that would have taken me to figure out on my own?” Things that aren’t common sense, or fun. Also, I don’t mind asking for help, but there is a 95% chance that whoever the teacher is has researched whatever it is online with games that do this; it’s one of my pet peeves and I feel like it’s a lazy excuse for “content” when the devs try to say “Oh, well we wanted you to experiment!”. That’s where we disagree.

Remember when most recipes were like that? Even the cauldron was just an empty recipe-less container like the cooking fire or the furnace… using up fuel and auto-crafting things based on what you threw in. I guess there’s been improvement on that front too.

I captured him… and then captured him again… and I felt special that I’m getting lucky with RNG and getting the same T4 taskmaster twice in a row… after I put the 4th one in the wheel though I started to get suspicious

Anyway, I’m fine with even the “secret” recipes, though I think they should’ve simply included notes and lore items pointing you in the right direction and then it would’ve been fun.
The mod Emberlight actually does this really well… there’s a chance for human NPCs to drop a note that has a fable on it describing how someone discovered to make coffee by drying desert berry seeds and grinding them then brewing that into a drink. And indeed if you do that you’ll get some coffee

What I wasn’t fine with though is the endless time I spent on the Armor page of the wiki trying to decide what to craft for my thralls or myself, because the armor bench doesn’t show you stats before crafting… but finally I managed to solve it with my tiny mod, now crafting armor feels very liberating compared to before

This ^^

Maybe I’ve been playing this game way too long, but the only such things that I can think of are recipes in the “auto-crafting” stations, as I call them. I’m talking about crafting stations where you don’t select a recipe, but merely put the ingredients in, maybe some fuel, and turn them on if necessary.

Unless I’ve forgotten something, those would be campfires (small, large, and bonfire), furnaces (and kiln), tanneries, grinder, dryer, planters, and compost heap. Oh, and the preservation boxes are a really cruel trick, since people assume they’ll work on their own and let their stuff inside to spoil.

I’m deliberately excluding the passive resource generators, such as beehives and fish traps, because those are easy enough to figure out, but those others that I mentioned are bad enough, though, and I’ve been grumbling about them for a while now.

Being a cantankerous old codger, I blame Minecraft for that kind of crap. I loved that game, but I hated that you had to keep a wiki open to play it, and I blame its success for creating a game development culture of “oh, we don’t need to teach players stuff, let them look it up in the wiki”.

Regardless of who or what’s to blame, this corner-cutting is lazy and should be fixed. To be fair, though, @Xevyr is completely right about how bad it used to be and how much it improved

Crap, I forgot about that. Yeah, that’s another aspect that requires you to either go online or download the DevKit.

Huh. All that griping reminded me of a couple of other pet peeves I have with what Conan Exiles doesn’t teach players:

  • Decay. For the love of Mitra, add something to the game to tech the players about it. I’ve lost count of times some newbie logged in after a couple of days and asked “Where the hell is my animal pen?” And then someone explains about the decay timers and how they’re affected by where (and on what) you build.
  • Controlling followers, especially on PVE-C. The purges are all during PVP hours, and when someone asks for help and you go to defend their base, you almost invariably end up being chased around by the thrall they have following them. The first couple of times it’s funny and makes you want to play the Yakkety Sax in the background, but it gets old real quick. And being in the middle of the purge isn’t exactly conducive to an explanation of how to configure their thrall’s AI to avoid that.

For that matter, the 3.0 update added another one: how the hell are people supposed to figure out that they need to craft a construction hammer?

Okay, I think I might be done. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah… I only recently found out ghoulish humors make ichor from bones and horns and stuff. Like… wtf? How am I only finding out about this now?

So I guess what we really should be suggesting is more tooltips/explanations lol, but I don’t really care at this point; I’ve already wikied everything.
