A very perculiar decay bug, that refreshes itself. Owner quit 19 days ago. Battlemetrics verified

Game mode: Online Official
Type of issue: Misc
Server type: PvE
Region: EU

The building of someone who isn’t in my clan and hasn’t been on for 19 days (verified by https://www.battlemetrics.com/players/759710 ) has refreshed itself whenever I go to view it with a hammer.

I have verified that no other person of that clan has logged on.

That clan is the most hated on my server and everyone verified nobody else joined their clan.

The refresh usually happens 3 seconds after I view it with my hammer. i.e. timer jumps from 68 to 164, and the owner read-out would show: “No owner” and turn to “Clan Beth Raghnaid”

The person in question has built griefing structures very close to my base. It almost feels as if my land-claim has merged in with theirs.

I have also noticed that structures that are in very remote places actually don’t decay, such as my Skelos Maproom that I have abandoned for 10 days… it’s still standing.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Build a base that occupies the whole of the mounds lake.
  2. Have someone else build a base all along the south shore of said lake.
  3. Check the base of other person with hammer once a week and watch it refresh itself.
  4. If can’t reproduce, please come visit the mounds on EU 1008 and see for yourself.
  5. https://www.battlemetrics.com/players/759710 <— profile of other person in question.
Hasn’t been on for 19 days and counting.

p.s. I bet you guys think someone did join Beth Raghnaid and is just trolling me on purpose here, so I am actually going to make a youtube video of this as proof. You will see the timer jumps up a few seconds after viewing it.

I’m not super-familiar with that area; is it possible somebody’s undermeshed this?

Naw. It’s overworld. Beth Raghnaid use to own half the map with his decay umbilicals. But after he quit, all his structures around the map decayed, just not his stuff right next to my base, so I think it might be territorial entanglement.

Yeah, I have a feeling it’s a bug I can work around by receding my own borders to untangle the claim.

I have noticed that, on the official servers, when an area of the game goes into hibernation because no one has been in it for a while, timers stop on structures and thralls/pets stop consuming food. Could this be part of the issue?

Noted this down and will make sure get some eyes on it

This could be due to decay timer refresh from damage. If you damage someones structure, decay timer will go to max.

Would it be possible to build in such a way (with thralls, etc., and perhaps enemy thralls) so that you are constantly doing damage to your own structures so that it causes the decay timer to constantly be reset? The way I am thinking about this would likely only have an effect during raid window hours. But - as I was reading the OP, I was trying to brainstorm how this was done.

PVE server though. So I doubt it.

This is happening in our server too. A clan made walls around another person’s base and that person keeps refreshing the other clan’s walls even with that clan’s members offiline for several days.
Looks like if the walls are too close to another person’s base the game “thinks” they belong to that person. Very weird bug.
