We have a similar issue in Lord of the Rings Online. The word filter is plain ridiculous at times. For example, the word “penetrating” is filtered possibly for vulgar reasons, but the hunters have a skill called “penetrating shot”.
I’ve also ran into issues where names in the name randomater function are listed as “inappropriate”. Make me shake me head at times. 
Absolutely no issues with censorship here on PC.
Sounds like a console issue. you might need to write a polite letter to Microsoft, just remember to acknowledge what native American tribes once lived on the land you are standing on and don’t forget to use gender pronouns (Microsoft love that sh-t)
I have to agree with the opinion of it being on Microsoft’s part. In ark there is a admin command to spawn an armor skin. The command is gfi bonerexhelmet or something along those lines. But it cant actually be entered into the command box. If a space is out between each word it will enter but if left as one long word it won’t put it in.
Reminds me of the time when the word Kushite was censored on these forums.
The Potion of Bestial Memory also used to be censored here and B*tch-scent still is.
My forum is hosted in China, so any word with the letter ur or ir together gets those letters ** like source becomes so**ce.
I asked my wife and she said that those letters are used in pinyin for a bad word.
What is interesting in the censorship doesn’t search for the symbol but the letters used to choose it regardless of language settings on server, computer, etc. it’s a very collateral damage way of doing it.
“ur” is not a bad word in pinyin, it actually has no meaning. No clue why this was censored as well by the game. Though “ri” could mean the F word and was used a lot in online games.
Thing is, I often type “brick” in the game’s filter when building, then I get “b**ck” in return. This is rediculous. First, I was playing a singleplayer game; second the word was only typed in filter, not a chat message.
The censorship should not apply to a ingame function that no others can see.
