Admins for Official Servers

I know it’s been mentioned before, but I think it’s worth mentioning again. I think some kind of volunteer admin or moderator program for the official servers would be a good idea. You could grant them limited powers; just enough to assist players that need it or to remove abandoned bases or to enforce some simple rules such as no foundation spamming. The official servers are just a mess of ugly spammy buildings in many cases.

Volunteer admin sounds like a invitation for vigilantes and that insanely oversized theme park builder’s boyfriend get free godlike power. How can anyone be sure of neutrality of those admins?
Players usually have little difficulty removing really abandoned bases. It is insane size and zero upkeep cost for DLC theme parks that make them problem.

I’m gonna say hard no from me on this one. Volunteer mods means anyone can try to throw their hat in for some unlimited power to abuse, which will only make things worse. And if they’re vetted by funcom, then people will put too much blame on them protest excessively when things happen they don’t like. People already cry enough when they’re banned for cheating, being actually moderated would make them tenfold worse. If you personally want a curated server, play private.

i vote yes because even tho it is abusable, those positions will be accountable.

That’s gonna be a no from me, too much chance for abuse, even if you develop some sort of report section for admins, what will stop cry babys to report an admin for no reason at all.

It wouldn’t have to be full admin powers. Just enough to be helpful. I know it’s never going to happen but it was just a thought. Anyway… :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I decided to launch my own server, LOL!

Would they? I mean, if it’s volunteer-based, how accountable can you hold the volunteer? You can take away their volunteer status, but that’s after the damage is done, and any legal repercussions after that are highly questionable because it was not an employer-employee relationship to begin with.

As soon as you start adding contractual obligations with specific requirements, it stops being volunteer work in some legislations and Funcom would be legally obligated to pay for these moderators.

I dont think it will happen because the moment it does the game loses about half of the butthead players who want nothing more than chaos if you want a admin look for a good private server they are hard to find and almost empty because the buttheads run around screaming admin abuse the secound the get hit with punishment for not following the rules

Define chaos, please. I would love to see occasional chaos under my walls. This is why I bother with walls, palisades and train arhchers. But as time goes on, I see only theme parks to show off DLC decorations.

no, some of you are toxic enough on here, can you imagine the grief level a “volunteer” would get.

My question would be what powers could you give them that could not be abused? How would you prevent that abuse? There’s no real consequences for somebody to just jump on and do it well then one day they get upset and decide to start mass deleting or giving things.
