All I want is “Age of Nemedia” with new castle (medieval) building pieces and tameable dragons. For the rest I don´t care.
Considering we have spawning pits for Dragons already, adding some tameable hatchlings would be nice.
Perhaps that’s a direction for growth, maybe off corrupted authority, or as a recipe from the library esoterica, dragon tamer comes with a new pen design that is as large as the other pens, but holds only one Dragon? Or would we need to hatch the eggs in the compost bin and then take the hatchling?
Was said during stream yesterday that there would be no such thing as taming dragons. The Conan lore wouldn’t allow it.
Dragons are slow anyways. Now that they have upsized the wolves, I want wargs…I can even settle for battlecats
Yeah, I’d like to see the animals react faster on Barbaric settings. Let them be more dangerous (speedier attacks and dodge reactions, not just damage sponges).
Ah, most unfortunate.
This one disagrees regarding the lore.
Evil Sorcerors and the vile High Priests of debased Cults (the majority of Player Characters likely are Sorcerors and/or have all the priest feats for at least one abomination “God”) tend to keep monsters in their basements. Are they tame? Probably not, but they certainly are contained and with build and placement restrictions what they are…
Perhaps the devs don’t see the Player Characters as the villains of the story. Which is odd, because we keep getting new and better ways to be the explicit bad guys from the canon and so little development in routes to imitate the protagonists. Perhaps the next Age we won’t be the head hunting minions of an Arch Priest of Set (member of the Black Ring no less), while moonlighting as delvers of the dark arts ourselves.
But it’s their game and that’s not a hill this one is looking to fight on.
I thought Den was just interested in the deforestation of Brazil’s rain forests over time. See how that lush green is eaten from the east by the white desert?
Dennis actually specifically said in the thread that dragon taming or mounts are not coming. “There’s always mods” or something to that effect was the recommended solution if that’s what you’re looking for.
But I don´t understand the reasons. I get that the dragons in the game are very big but we also do have baby dragons. And if this is still too big, then they could create even smaller ones. Ones that are smaller then a normal character and only fly above a players shoulder. Instead of an weapon attack they get a fire attack. The higher they level the more damage they do. Doesn´t have to deal a great lot of damage. I know its technically prob. more difficult then it sounds, but c´mon. Who just don´t want to get themselfs a dragon.
We have a lot of very cute but saddly also very useless animals in the game. One more wouldn´t hurt anyone in the end. But I think there could be other options also.
They could do another type of “animals/creatures” like they did with the golem that acts just like neutral pocket pets. They don´t fight and are only visual. You attache them like clothing. We already have some neutral animals in the game like the rabit and the cat. It would be neat to have those. Dragons, bats, insects etc. But I guess its just to much fantasie thinking. So yeah … no dragons in Conan.
Lore? Dragons in hyboria are extinct for the most part. Dragons in the Exiled Lands are remnants of the giant-kings’ breeding of them as war-beasts and gladiatoral combatants.
Dragons are monstrous beasts, and if the giant-kings couldn’t fully domesticate them at the height of their empire, what makes you think a lowly human would be capable of that now?
Dragons are simply too powerful for a mere human to rear into a loyal, docile pet. There are limits to what can be done.
There also is no small dragons that just ride on your shoulders or whatever random non-applicable D&D trope you want to pull from this week. They are massive.
Agreed. I don’t think Conan Exiles would benefit very much from Dragon pets, Dragon mounts, or Dragon taming of any kind. Yes, a mod would be the way to go if someone really ‘just has to have that.’ But I’d rather Funcom invest their time in working on other game features. Conan Exiles still has rich potential for much more.
Any chance for an age focused on one of the main features of the game?
Age of gods the most talked about would be one.
Age of Civilization(placeholder name) but an age focused on revamping thrall AI. More responsiveness, more animations or autonomous interactions to give thralls more life, improved purged AI, with smarter enemies that pose a real threat with siege weapons.
Age of Beasts focused more on the pets and animals of the game by giving them more uses a bit like ARK does to its dinos and mammals. Of course within the limits of the lore and world of Hyboria.
Age of War a full revamp on combat with way more ways to approach a fight, more weapon options with various uses, maybe a new blacksmithing path that allows you to reforge or repurpose the skill a weapon scales with (ie: agility, strength) with a different move set based on said skill. Allow thralls to maybe train on a specific weapon type that levels as they level giving them more skill over time.
Of course these are all ideas that could somewhat work or not it all depends how much the devs are willing to sacrifice for the sake of PVP balance which is the defining factor for new content.
Lore is a convenient excuse to not do or do something. Go thru everything in the game. The only true lore is whatever FC needs it to be to jusify it existing or not existing in the exiles lands. REH, movie '84, etc. dont dictate squat other than in our opinions and threads.
Adherence to the books is an excuse to do what the books would want
Bold of you to assume I haven’t, you should know by now I have.
True and untrue. Funcom owns the rights to the Conan IP, meaning they have the ability to add or retcon things as needed; but they cannot directly contradict source material.
The source material cannot be contradicted. New content can be added to fill in gaps, but if it is written something cannot be, it cannot be.
Screw it, I’ll be your Huckleberry. Point out in the books, movie or canon/lore where there are gold and silver pooping rocknoses.
Mate, @Jimbo literally just wrote that new content can be added to fill in gaps.
i tend to agree we are the antogonist. To my recollection, none of the human npcs raid, fight or attack each other in game. From loot chests, it also looks that they trade as well. We are the only ones goong around massacreing villages and the whatnot.
edit, slave trade is the only thing. But who knpwa, it might debtors prisons where they were sentenced for finacial crimes, and we are buying them there freedom to work for us.
Point out where it says they cannot exist.
It was a bug for sure, but I watched and laughed at a sorcerer in Flotsam running around shanking other NPCs with his daggers. I saved video. Will try to upload.
