AGE OF WAR - New Thrall Stats

@Xevyr I can get a legendary weapon fast, but a lot of players can’t. They will be stuck with crafted weapons until they level and gear up to engame content. By then they will have been purged once or twice. See my point? People already complain about thralls hitting like wet noodles. Now they’ll hit even softer until you give them legendary gear. I can’t see how that will work out.

meh they can go buy momentum in these last few hours for some coins  and then later on get them from the spire too…
I’m sure they will all be fine, but we’ll see, won’t we?

You are assuming they won’t start from scratch, @Xevyr . Or that they’ll keep their current playthrough. Or that they won’t join AFTER caravans are gone.
Your "don’t worry’ implies a lot of assumptions. Some don’t even know about the Spire merchant. And it takes a lot of Obolus to gear up a team of thralls.
I won’t worry for me. You know how I fight. But I worry for the game, that needs new players. And I worry SPECIFICALLY about purges. Most content was also nerfed in some way in the last updates.

Tugras will be my expendables
You’re crazy if you think a laggy playstation will stop me from trying them. I want to see them in action.

Then the Devs are a bunch of inbecils …

Just look at Cannibal Brutes with 2.8 Ranged Modifier … that should be enough to describe the level of stupidity in those people.

I just think FUNCOM chose a very bad date to release the update, @Xevyr . Final Fantasy xvi has been released today and a lot of players will be trying it. Seems awesome. I’ll play both, because I’m excited for both releases. Once again, I worry about DA GAME.

I think Funcom should fire some people that obviously don’t understand a f*ck about game balancing.
Here we have FIGHTERS with more Ranged Multiplier than Archers, Archers with more Melee Multiplier that THEIR OWN Ranged Multiplier …

WHAT THE F*CK DID THEY DO ?
Fire those morons, Funcom, I can do a better balance while sleeping and drunk !

Your weapon logic has one flaw. Thralls need to be usefull even without legendaries. What you see and compare is only the end result. What a thrall can deal when he is leveled up and equiped with best legendarie gear, when he has a good armor and weapon.

But what you are forgetting is that reality looks a little different. People will have purges way before they have access to high tier armors and weapons. That a lot of people take their thralls with them early and mid game. Use them as defense line for their sandstone bases. Use them to knock out other thralls. And if thralls do not do enough damage and have not enough health to be reliable in early and midgame too then Funcom killed a hugh part of the game for people.

I have no problem when a thrall occasionally dies. Players learn and need to learn from their mistakes. But turning thralls into a “disposable” waste pile for me is not the way to go. Because people love their thralls. They put effort and time into them. Try to make them special. Have fun collecting and rp with them. A thrall and also an pet act as players companions and are seen as such. They are not something you use and then throw away. When you read the developer letter you see the view Funcom has on thralls is very different from the view of people.

When we discuss the nerfing of thralls its not all just about numbers and statistics. Its about that people feel grief about turning their unique beloved companions into disposable waste.

Let’s not pretend it was any other way up to now though :man_shrugging: Your thralls needed decent equipment even up to now.
The main difference is that you can now hand them that vault full of legendaries you’ve been collecting… and they’ll have twice the damage written on them as before

Not with this… unless you mean that they deal so much damage that the player yet again is just a sidekick :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, I do believe that most of these issues are indeed psychological and it’s definitely not coming from people actually playing the beta and reciting their experience…
Some of the feedback is coming that way and those are actually way more plausible (like the PvP endless roll… )

Again… imo thralls will be perfectly fine and more than adequate for any PvE content… if you don’t have any actual evidence that suggests otherwise, I’d say wait with the pitchforks until you do…

In fact, they have grossly violated even their own principles of balancing. As we know, thralls have three main groups of characteristics:

  1. Damage multipliers
  2. Levelling speed
  3. The speed of accumulation of bonuses by attributes.

And the developers have always balanced them. Darfari had weak point №1, but high №2 and №3. The strong like Dalynsia had the opposite. The middle ones were average.
We remember one exception. Teimos wasn’t the strongest, but all three were high. And what did it lead to. And now we have three superteimoses.
The only positive is that the Ritualist and Tugra will be available to beginners.

That argument annoys me beyond measure and people keep repeating it as if it was a godamn mantra!

It was OUR choice to capture, break, level and gear up strong thralls.
Didn’t wanna be a sidekick? All you had to do was simply leaving them alone. They wouldn’t have come knocking at your base’s door!

“Pick me! Pick me! Oh mighty @Xevyr , pulease pick me as your thrall so that I can make you a sidekick!” - said any npc, ever.

And I never ever felt like a sidekick. Even on Single Player when I spawn Ladagaras I still don’t feel like a sidekick. You kbow why? Because they stay home.
So, that’s no valid bloody reason. It only got newbies in trouble.

All they had to do was nerfing Teimos.

Nah. Every part of the game has been killed already. Thralls have been dead since, well, every thrall update ever, except the one which boosted them way overboard, which killed the game because the player became meaningless.

How about we go out and see how those numbers work in practice, because other NPCs have been changed too?

Where in the ToS says you need to have a high end thrall, feed and leveled to the max, in high end gear, following you?
If the player became meaningless, it was due to his own choices.

I’m seeing most Darfari with 90-95% growth in vitality. Even with 0 starting points in vitality they gain HP fast, specially if you feed them steak. You might have to coddle them for the first few levels if you are not running Well Trained, but they grow up so fast.

I was doing the “level a thrall to 20” journey step when I first tried Thugra. It was faster to level him than a level 15 RHTS. In end game gear, including legendary weapons, your Thugra’s and Brutes will blow through most bosses.

My thrall on Single Player

She’s a Ladagara that can obviously kill everything. She could defeat a lvl 6 purge alone.

Yet she stays inside my luxurious new Turanian yurt when the purge comes.
Captured thralls fight instead.

And I definitely don’t feel a sidekick.

Bosses, not mobs. Like purges.

In the same place where it says that you’re entitled to have a high end max level thrall with high end gear doing all the work for you.

So, let’s blame the game because of our own decisions, @Kapoteeni ? This seems to be the trend in everything these days.

Isn’t that what people have been doing since day 1?
