Agility weapons need love. No mounted options. Spears should be for agility users

This should be the case, sort of what emberlight adds, Dorys for agility with shield or offhand and polearms for heavy attacks.

You cant even buff Fist/Claw weapons… Well The Yamtai Claw one u cant in the Bazaar

I posted a thread on this a while back.

Historically, there is a version of katana that was used from horseback.

There are also many accounts of light scimitars, javelins, throwing darts (primarily from chariots though), and some light sabres used from horseback.

The javelins used in this role were not used primarily in close quarters combat (charges), but to harrass targets from range.

I can appreciate that the shortsword was used as a short range stabbing weapon, and is excluded from horseback.

I think it is tough to argue that a two handed spear should be classed as an agility weapon, and used one handed from horeseback.

I think it would be reasonable to apply the current Turanian tulwar (treating it as a light scimitar) as a light weapon that could be used from horseback (using the base sword animations from horseback), then apply the shortsword animations on the ground. There is already a curved shortsword skin available from the shop.

This would give agility players a horseback option.

Rapiers would be cool. Dunno if they’re lore accurate.

definitely not, but still would be cool

I wouldn’t say no to them. But as far as their canonicity, that’s a bit hard to say. From a technological point of view, there’s absolutely no reason they can’t exist in the Hyborian Age. IRL they could have existed a few hundred years before they did. The metalwork that the Zingarans, Aquilonians, Cimmerians, and others could easily make rapiers. There’s nothing special needed over other swords there.

The only thing preventing their use is social reasons. The whole reason rapiers became a thing to begin with IRL. Is a thin bladed sword needed for urban environments and do Hyborian governments allow non-nobles to carry them? If so, then sure they could easily be a thing. If not, then they won’t be.

Conan certainly won’t use one unless its all he has. So it has -that- working against it. Doesn’t preclude it, but since he’s the focus of the stories, it explains why we just don’t see such weapons.

In all the stories I’ve read, daggers and short swords (or just shorter swords in general) are used in more urban environments when a fight breaks out. If a rapier was in the Hyborian Age, it seems like it would have been present. Assuming REH even thought to do so. Could say he just never thought about it. After all the Hyborian Age is a thought experiment about different cultures in their prime being put in the same time and place to see how they would react.

Remember the forum posts complaining about how op claws were in PvP? Pepperidge farm remembers.

Rapiers? It’s a short sword with a longer reach. Damage should be less but hey you got daggers that do the same as swords so why not.

Yes and no.

A longer, thinner short sword attack series in this game would cover what is generally expected of a “Rapier”.

Historically they, in earlier versions as longer sideswords with developed hilts, were contemporary with articulated plate armour, which is what the Poitain wear. The earliest
surviving examples from Europe appearing around the 1400s.
Proper Espada Ropera (civilian swords) would still be a bit in the future for much of Europe, as was mentioned above, and even then would not find universal acclaim. But that’s an entire worm can.

In Khitai (which is basically a China, likely Yuan dynasty, stand in, with a great wall and everything) depending upon what type of Jian is in use, those are basically rapiers without developed hilts. Long, straight, primarily thrust weapons used more for Dueling or personal protection than as a battlefield mainstay. Post Chu-Han contention (200BCEish) Jian fall in this category. Chu Jian were still battlefield blades, but by the time of the Yellow Turban uprising (close of the Han) they were largely replaced by Dao (single edged, often curved, cutting swords, somewhere in the sabre-falchion-hanger-cutlass range depending upon era) for field work.
Qin and earlier, largely bronze, Jian would be best represented with the one handed sword category (as would most later Dao), as they were chopping swords with thrusting options. By the time steel was in the game, they quickly evolved.

So even if they aren’t explicitly canonical, they, in some incarnation, fit.
Conan wasn’t running around blowing up castles with explosive arrows, and those are a mainstay. There’s even a Bec de Corbin weapon (which looks nothing like the historical version)… So perhaps we shouldn’t stress too much.

I can second this recommendation on Multigun’s Javelin Improved mod. I tried it out this weekend after seeing it mentioned here and it’s pretty amazing. It should be part of the base game, for sure.
