Agility weapons need love. No mounted options. Spears should be for agility users

List of Agility weapons and how good they are. Are limited vs strength weapons.

Agility has Daggers, Katanas, Short Swords, Javelins, Bows, Throwing Axes. Fist Weapons.

None can be used as melee weapons while on horseback.

Also most agility weapons aren’t viable for pvp meta. Outside of daggers. Curiously Katanas have no one handed attack options on horseback. Even though perhaps they should be able to be used on horseback using the one handed sword moveset? Also Spears should most definitely be an agility weapon. And it would give Agility users an actual melee weapon to use on horseback.

I mentioned this in a previous topic about spears as agility weapons… Den said he had an idea to split spears into two groups. Pokey spears that to use the current moveset and slashy polearms that would revert to the old moveset.

If this division was done, pokey spears could be turned into agility, and slashy polearms could stay strength.

Spears are for agility, they’re called Javelins. Short spears, like short swords are agi. Long spears, like long swords are str.

I think what you really want is mounted and buffed javelins

Javelin melee move set is utter garbage most like agility weapons.

Yes

I like the idea of javelins, But they’re in need of an actual decent moveset. Fist/Claw weapons are also garbage. Too slow, not enough range.

So Agility users are shoehorned into using Daggers and that’s it for melee combat.

So Spears. Move them into 2 categories. Halberds for Strength Builds. And Spears for Agility builds. Both can be used on horseback and both share Some similar movesets. But halberds heavy attacks use swings instead of spear heavy attack pokes.

Katanas aren’t bad either, but yeah 100% agree agility is pretty poor compared to strength for weapons. However, I don’t think taking both polearm variants would fix the issue. More ideal would be revisiting the long-dumpy javelins, and give them a more modern combo that isn’t full poopoo

Katana lacks any good forward momentum like all of the strength weapons do. Which seems counter productive when agility is about speed. None of the Agility weapons have good reach outside of the daggers.

Throwing axes are okay, But they can be only be paired with Strength weapons to change up some of the movesets. So to be really useful you’d have to go split between strength and agility to really get any benefit out of the combo.

Remove spear attacks while mounted and move that attack to javelins. Thus no two-handed melee is useable by horseback. Agility gets another weapon to use on horseback. Also give Shortswords a mounted attack.

Or Give Agility users a Giant Two handed Katana Similar two a Two Handed Sword but for Agility instead.

Or a Tachi(太刀)

TACHI typically refers to a longer, more curved sword than other Japanese swords though there were some exceptions. An armored Samurai on horseback often used it during the Heian period (794-1185 A.D.) -the beginning of the Muromachi period (1336 to 1392 A.D.). TACHI was suspended loosely on the left waist with its edge facing the ground so that you could draw it faster to cut down soldiers on the ground.

There’s definitely precedent to allow the use of Katana in Conan on Horseback. It would solve least the horseback problem. But Javelins absolutely need a new moveset. They should be quicker than spear but offer same utility in terms of combat but with the added benefit of being able to be thrown. But that should be moved to the special move button similar to Katanas, Two handed swords and Dagger Roll for example. That way the Light and heavy Attacks can be re-worked.

Giving us yet another weapon type that is pretty niche isn’t really the solution I’m looking for.

What’s niche? Allow Katanas to be used on horseback and give the weapon the one handed sword animations while on horseback. And add a two handed Agility sword Weapon? Either Give spears agility type. Or split the weapon up. And/or improve Javelin moveset.

Would fix pretty much the entire debate.

Topics like this are the reason why multigun’s javelin mod never leaves my load order. Gives them full light/heavy chains and they can be used on horseback (as well as adding a staggeringly vast variety to choose from).

I will always recommend it to anybody that can use it.

Other way around please :stuck_out_tongue: Nothing agile about thrusting a stick as hard as you can, that needs strength
Using momentum for slashing movements would fit better with agility imo, at least the videogame definition of it… oh and let’s not forget about the movie definition and stuff :helicopter:

I’ve used this mod or at least one very similar to it before and I can attest on a personal level that it was pretty awesome. That’s my personal opinion however.

As a server admin, when looking at such changes, in this case a mod, I have to weigh the effort of adding said thing to a mod list to how much it will actually be utilized. In my experience, even when Javelins are given combos, I don’t see many use it.

Now I’m not being critical of what you said. I’m just giving my personal experience. So I’m going to ask if you have seen differently. If you’ve played on servers with the mod, are Javelins used a lot?

Now I’m not trying to hijack the topic and go off on a tangent here. The reason I’m asking this question is I do want to see Javelins get Light and Heavy attacks and throw on a special like in the mod mentioned above.

But is it actually worth it? I know people say they would use it. Its an interesting new concept for many. So they might think it cool and neat. But for those who actually have access to it. How much is it actually used? My fear is it would be a fad new thing for a short bit, then forgotten.

Ask the players on the server :stuck_out_tongue: If they like it then try it…
It’s not like adding mods is a tedious process or anything as long as it’s simple stuff like this

I did, no one was using them except for me. I have a policy of not keeping mods in the mod list that only I use lol. It just feels a tad bit on the conflict of interest side.

Meh, would’ve still kept it unless someone complained about it.
But that’s why I suggested asking them first to see how many would want it, seems like you already had that
