The developers wrote that there were issues with the server configuration files, and during a server update, an incorrect config version was uploaded. Options and modes unneeded for this server were enabled. BUT, disabling ownership is not only the wrong mode, but no official Conan server uses this option. I don’t understand how to downplay the problem. My clanmate and I logged into the game and saw that we were completely unarmored and our inventory was empty, about 30 slaves were naked, and half the chests were empty. All the most valuable items and incomprehensible junk were stolen. The server logs are full of amazing entries, I’ve attached only a couple of screenshots, but over a thousand items were stolen. If stealing from chests can be explained by checking a box in the server settings—chests without an owner—then how do you explain the removal of items from offline players, even without killing them, and the looting of their inventory? What kind of rights does someone doing this have? Our Steam accounts haven’t been hacked, and the authorization logs have been verified. Now we need a clear answer from the Conan developers: what exactly this was and whether it’s been fixed permanently, or will we have to start the game over every week? We’ve been playing for years, buying DLC and store items, hoarding unique items that are no longer obtainable, and what do we see? They’re quietly letting the issue slide! We spend thousands of hours of our lives playing the game; it’s our free choice, and the developers are RESPONSIBLE for ensuring the safety of our money and time, transformed into in-game items and environments. To avoid losing something or having our base destroyed, some of us, including myself, only play on PVE servers. What’s the point of playing without guarantees of property protection? There are game rules that outline the rules and responsibilities of players, but what are the responsibilities of the developers?
Sorry for the possibly confusing nature of my thoughts.
Who experienced similar issues between December 18th and 20th, 2025?
Three days have passed, and the developers are silent about attackers gaining administrator rights on the official server. We need answers on whether the server vulnerability has been fixed and how it happened.
Funcom rarely replies to posts here and nothing will ever be done about the hacking/grieving. The only solution that you can do yourself is to get a private server, password protect it, and only play with people you know. Anything else/everything else = hacking/grieving.
This wasn’t a hack, it is because the server settings, which were wrong, allowed your bodies to be looted.
This is possible on PVP servers.
The Op wrote that this occured on PvE server.
Indeed, but OP claimed that this isn’t possible on any Official server, which is incorrect, PVP servers have it.
The settings on PVE were changed allowing this.
Its not ok and something needs to be done absolutely. But I will correct when necessary, especially in terms of calling something a hack when it isn’t, FC screwed this up and admitted so.
I maintain that there are no game settings that can be accidentally enabled to rob an offline player without killing them. In PvP, you can only take all my items by killing me, sleeping or not, from my corpse. These were either ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS, or a heavy-duty cheat that grants them. One way or another, everything is very strange. At the same time, an independent bug appeared in the server logs that doesn’t show the name of the person who took your item or killed your pet, but instead displays “Someone killed your pet” or “Someone took your item.” It’s an interesting coincidence that the game is in disarray at the same time, otherwise I would have seen who did it. These are technically independent bugs. The developers blatantly ignore the most basic rights and interests of players. It seems they don’t care about us; it’s impossible to reach them. Following this path, they will inevitably face… The person who robbed me is still on my server; it shouldn’t be any trouble for the developers to track him down. A crime without punishment always leads to an even more serious crime.
FC made the change some months ago that it doesn’t show who is responsible in the logs.
No one got admin rights, its not a hack, it is incorrect config files.
Incorrect config files are only partially true. Administrator rights were present, some of the stolen loot was found in walled-up rooms with no windows or doors. The structures remained intact, but the chests were looted. You had to see them through walls and fly through walls and floors. These vague, general statements from the developers are an attempt to cover up the biggest security breach in the game’s history. Their irresponsible attitude is what causes these inevitable failures. We need to understand whether this is possible in the future, otherwise, there’s no point in playing.
Are you absolutely sure that these rooms were completely encased?
And this isn’t the biggest security breach. PC PVP has suffered hacks since the beginning.
If this is console and the rooms were open to the mesh or 1 wall thick, then you were exploited on top of incorrect config files.
All this stuff, aside from incorrect config files, isn’t new.
None of it is ok, but make sure you’re calling a spade for what it is.
It’s gets better. My PVP server is now over so I’m not sure what is going on
Any player can be looted.
Setting differences.
Loot from corpse ON means :
Bodies found in the world can be looted
Armor
Weapon wheel
Backpack
Loot from corpse OFF means
only weapon wheel and armor can be looted
sleeping player must then be killed to check thier backpack.
The only way to not be looted is to get on a server that does NOT ALLOW players to remain in world after they log out.
Meaning. Once you log out of the server. Your character also disappears.
There are other ways to force your body to log out of world on official. But I m not sure if they have been patched.
Hope that helps.
The rooms were completely sealed off, like backup materials, in the foundation. I play on PC, not console. Something strange is going on. It looks like Funcom is planning to kick all Conan players out. There are messages on various forums about chests in player bases, without ownership rights, on PVP and PVE servers :(( Take whatever you want from whomever you want, and you won’t even see the name of who stole from you… Bravo, keep up the good work…
Thats also a setting you can turn off on private
The ability to see who stole from you.
You might just need to find a private server to continue your barbarianism.
Cheer up it’s Christmas
Happy Holidays Everyone.
Nothing is happening, Funсom is silent, as if nothing happened, zero action, such disregard and disrespect for the players is simply astounding.
The saturnity continues.
I suspect something more clandestine is going on in the background.
If it’s what I believe it is, Funcom won’t say a word about it for damned good reason.
So, hold onto your horses, sit back and wait.
I don’t think it’s a hack but def an exploit of a glitch in the system. Same happened to me. My clan base and outpost were refreshed and we got our stuff stolen. My year worth of work on Conan taken on Dec 24th.
