Altar disappeared after upgrade

Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvP
Region: United States

I spent several hours upgrading Altar of Ymir only to have the whole thing disappear along with everything stored on the altar. Can you do anything about this? I wasted a couple of hours trying to upgrade to have this crap happen.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

A Google search reveals this has been going on at least since 2018. What gives?

Was it placed directly on the ground or on foundations? Did it have enough space to upgrade? It could be a collision issue. Last report I have seen about it was from a person who built very close to a no build zone and their altar failed to upgrade due to collision with that zone, when they moved it, it upgraded without an issue.

Since you are playing on a private server, you could ask nicely your admin to return what you have lost.

I placed it directly on the ground in this case. I am the admin… but I don’t have the knowledge to replace the altar. I am unable to find any information on placing buildings etc as an admin. I have started rebuilding on foundations, but the real frustrating part of this is that it seems to be a known bug with altars for around 2 years or more now and nothing has been done to fix it - That and the 2+ hours of wasted time harvesting materials etc.

With the information provided we can’t know for sure whether it is indeed a bug or not.

Do you use mods?
Post a screenshot with coordinates to try to replicate the issue (Press Insert, type ToggleDebugHUD, take the screenshot and post it here. If you can’t post a screenshot upload it and break the link e.g. imgur.com -> imgur .com)

There havent been that many reports after it was patched last year so the issue seems to be resolved for most of us.

To restore your altar, hit escape, go to server settings, make yourself an admin by typing the admin password. Once the admin rights are granted, hit escape again, you will have access to the admin panel. Search for the altar and spawn it in by clicking on it. You can spawn directly the T2 or T3 depending on what failed to upgrade. Using this panel, you can spawn whatever else you lost as well:
