During the testing of Conan Exiles, i could tab out and in at will without any problems - as i do with every other game i run on this system.
since launch when i tab out i either cannot tab back (game wont maximize) or the screen will be frozen at the point i tabbed out, and the game will eventually crash after many minutes.
I am finally posted about this because i lost allot of very hard to come by items due to such a crash
System:
Windows 10 Pro
AMD FX 8350
32 GB Ram
M2. SSD
Nvidia GTX 980
I. AMD CPU + ONBOARD AUDIO (Realtek)
For everyone with AMD cpus who are having issues with alt-tabbing causing freezes, please do the following to eliminate the problem.
If you have followed any of the previous workarounds posted in the forums, revert those changes. (For example restoring XAudio2_7.dll if you have removed it)
Locate your Engine.ini file, which should be found in your ConanExilesInstallPath>/ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini folder.
Example:
C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/ConanExiles/ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini
Edit it in notepad, and add the following to the end of the file:
[/script/engine.audiosettings]
bDisableMasterEQ=True
Save the file, and start the game. You should no longer experience freezes when alt tabbing.
We plan to make this an ingame client setting in a future patch.

If you have also problems with Performance, let your GPU Handle the physX effects.
My Girlfriends owns a fx8120 and had serious performance issues after couple of minutes. The Latency of the CPU spiked up to 98% and the game crashed.
Within the nvidia control panel, i set the “Surround, PhysX configuration” from Automatic to GPU (your graphic card).
The crashes and heavy performance issues was solved by this to.
