Anybody happy about the resource changes for Palisades?

So before you needed branches for it…

Now you need 50 SHAPED WOOD for it + 3 twine.
Current version: https://conanexiles.gamepedia.com/Wall_Palisade

Before you needed 50 branches (or 100 branches without T4) to make the 5 spikes to craft it (also 3 twines). With a T4 you didnt even need 5 spikes then… So it got even EXPENSIVER!!

HOW does that make any sense? And what do I do now with the 100k branches I got from bearer supply packs?

Did anyone ask for that? Because nothing is better now… You have to convert the wood to shaped wood and then can craft it.
Before you had to craft the spikes out of branches…

Nothing is cheaper. Nothing is faster. And branches have way to low uses in the game, compared to Shaped wood?

@Hugo Who came up with this idea? And why for?

I have already so many arrows…
Also feathers. I also have a crap load of shaped wood because of the bearer supply packs.

But I dont get the recipe change at all…

And when I look at the changelog, I only can shake my head:

  • The recipe for Spikes and Palisades has changed and should now be much easier to build.

or what does FC means mit “easier to build”, when nothing got easier and even more expensive…

Thats again a perfect example that FC doesnt play their game for a LONGER time. If you play long enough you have more branches than anything else.

As you said, you already despawn them! I have 3 chests FULL OF THEM!! And didnt pick up a single one (I dont pick up branches since 3 months…)

And then FC removes one of the biggest uses for the branches…

But I always ask in the nerf/balance threads, if some people/community are happy about that. Or wanted to change it like that… On reddit no one is a fan of that change either.

I knew a change was coming… But I thought it will turn to something better… not worse

Like make the palisades from branches directly and skip the spikes.

Edit: Also I have to try if you still can craft Spikes. Because what are you doing with them? What do I do with my >100 old spikes now? Or do you need it for repairing?

It does seem strange as it’s not really ‘easier’ than the old recipe. Maybe the logic here is they figure most players will have extra string and shaped wood laying around they can use. With the old recipe, I always had to do both steps of the transform if I wanted palisades, as I never had spikes sitting in a chest somewhere.

At least they could add a “darfari palisade recipe” to create a Tzompantli (aztec wall of skulls and spikes), I’m always on for more savage direction, more blood and guts, more tribalism and less civilization!
Less palaces and more camps, shacks and hut…, so branches can have their temple ^^

Good call. I was starting to feel like I needed to open up a branch office.

I Just noticed this change and im not really happy about it.

Spikes are useless now and pallisades are actually more expensive. I can understand why, but they should cost more Spikes, not more shaped wood

The Forrest was really good in that aspect… Also the constant fear of cannibals visting you.

Which should be in Conan with the Purge, but with the current purge system you either need a massive clan or play 24/7 to get one each week…

Many people and myself would be alot happier if we get MORE PURGES. At least change the setting in PvE. Would be great to have more purges… Or “patrols” who visits/attacks bases.

Wait, what? I knew they changed it, but haven’t checked the new requirements. 25-50 shaped wood?! That’s at least 125 wood, up to 500! For one palisade wall? That’s completely unreasonable!

Makes me wonder if that’s the reason behind the change. There were people on the follower cap feedback thread – myself included – cautioning that people might resort to spamming palisade walls for defense, at least until they get their new thralls leveled. I never dreamed the reaction would be “good point, let’s make palisades prohibitively expensive” :frowning:

Of course, it might not be that. I might just be going through that knee-jerk tinfoil reaction we all have sometimes

I bet that’s the reason. It’s really hard to see how this change is an improvement.

At first I wasn’t happy about this change, and yes, I do have 2k branches 30 minutes into my fresh play through  But after a while I think this is a reasonable change - palisades ARE made of shaped wood, after all. My only wish FUNCOM could make them last longer by upping thier HP to 10k, maybe 15k

Then give branches a usages, except drying to dry wood. Also the palisides quite look like a bunch of spikes bound together with twines

Not for the endgame… I dont craft bad weapons, where I would need them.

If I could convert branch to wood and then shaped wood, then I would have no complain. Not even with the palisades change.

It was exaggerated, as there are usages for it. But not for 100k (which is and was not exaggerated  )

Well, palisades are shaped wood, they clearly are not branches.

Nope, they are just wood, they should blow up with the first bomb.

No, they’re not. I mean, you could do one with branches if you want, but everyone can throw them away… Those in the game look like wood, not branches.

Worse change ever. Branches are not needed anymore

I was thinking about mass producing ironhead arrows to arm my archers, but since the last update half of my Purges spawn inside the terrain, so first I would have to move my base to try to circumvent FUNCOM’s inability to implement a proper pathing algorithm.

But in Conan they look like a bunch of these:

Bounded together with twines…

The recipe before made sense.
The one currently not really…

Shaped wood has no “impaling” function and I doubt by adding twine to it, they became sharp like spikes.

Not even this one looks like shaped wood. Shaped wood has no spikes at any end…

I dont want to attack Aleetoo, but maybe he needs glasses. Because honestly:
https://conanexiles.gamepedia.com/Shaped_Wood

Thats a plank of wood. No sharp edges… But for him palisiades look like shaped wood? o_O

This is the description on the same page you posted before…

"Description

This sharpened wooden spike, once placed, waits patiently for something to be impaled upon it."
