Arachnophobia mode option

Instead of apologizing for being offensive, I suggest you try understanding the issue. Phobias are not “being scared”, they’re long-term mental disorders. They have nothing to do with “courage” or “bravery” or being afraid in general. Taking my earlier, personal example - I’m not “scared” of computer games or stuff in them, but the scenes where Batman was climbing a tall tower caused me vertigo, and when I had to lower the character to hang on a ledge I felt anxiety and intense reluctance to do so - even if it wasn’t me who was climbing there. Climbing upwards has never been a problem, not in games and not in real life - it’s always the start of a descent that gets me.

Phobias are defined as “irrational senses of anxiety or fear” and can have a variety of causes. Good news is, they can be treated.

Of course, if by “psychopathic gamers” you mean those with a neurological disorder making then egotistical and lacking empathy - well, yes, they’d react to phobias like you just did.

I understand what a phobia is. Phobias cause anxiety, I’ve been working for a very long time in a mental illness clinic.
That’s why I write it that way.

If you already know what to expect and psychically will not cope. Then you should just let it be and go into a therapy to treat the problem.

Phobias trigger anxiety

You have to fight your fears to survive. This also applies to phobias that trigger these states of anxiety.

Is acting like a jerk part of the treatment?

No, but you have to be one to understand the stupidity of people. :kissing_heart:

Quite simply you have a phobia, let play be. Dedicate yourself to your phobia and fight it.
Do not ask the game makers to change what.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

why not? It did not hurt to ask

One should not run away from fears and phobias, one should resist them and thus gain more quality of life.

You can face the fears and phobias in the VR, because they are only digital and therefore can not do anything to you.

So why should the game makers change something that you can change yourself?

I used to be scared of dogs, I was scared and today I own a dog that I love like a brother.

You just have to be strong in the heart and face everything.

My statement above was stupid, I know that.
But you should not always ask that the others change something, if you also have the opportunity to change something in yourself.

the problematic is more about apealing one type of phobia, but what about all the other ones, like height, watter or else, do funcom have to appeal the game for any kind of fear ?
Let’s say i’m agoraphobic, should Funcom revamp the whole map because i don’t feel safe wandering in it ?

To be honest i don’t think so, but a mod can certainly make his way to those who need it

already exists guys.

now picture one of those that is the size of a small car… in those caves…

well that’s true, they don’t have a giant one yet. yeah, I mean it’s kinda like replacing with a blob

I don’t think that statement was stupid. Blunt, maybe, but sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed.

You can’t just have everyone pretend that spiders don’t exist and the world is flat. (And for once that is not a reference to a certain group that believes Antarctica is a massive ice wall surrounding the world.) Sooner or later reality is going to confront you with whatever your issue is in one form or another and you’re going to have to deal with it.
