I’ve talked to a lot of people who would be interested in playing the game but refuse because of the large spiders in some locations. So i was wondering, if there was a way for on the players end for a simple toggle or something in the options to simply swap out the model client side with something that isn’t a spider.

How about a Giant Cockroach? It’s the sound off the smaller spiders my wife can’t stand but she doesn’t like the boss’s either.
Dont those hesitant players understand that the spiders are only digital representations? Are they aware that the images of the spiders are ‘trapped’ inside of the monitor?

No I not. I have seen the 6 to 8 inch ones from Miami Miami FL they have or had a yearly contest on the news. That is bad enough.
Sat here to think about it, and I just don’t think its feasible. The AI instructions has to send over the server. Animations and the mesh are probably client side, though animations could also partially be server based in order to have combat be visible as the same to all players.
MAYBE possible for single player, but now you are getting into extremely niche territory. There is already only a small percentage of people who would qualify as true Arachnophobs, and even smaller still who only play single player.
In those instances, they honestly could (and should) just use the available mods for that. If you count all the mods that replace spiders with something else, you are talking just over 2,000 subscribers out of the hundreds of thousands of players who play or have played Conan. I’m guessing the actual active userbase who use those mods can probably be counted with one hand.
So this is a long winded statement of saying that, while I feel for the players (accessibility is important), from a game development perspective, I’m not seeing too much of the viability of it. Mods are available to be used, and if your friends are PC players, I would encourage them to look that direction.
