Just a quick request. Would it be possible to have a blood/gore/dismemberment toggle similar to how we have a nudity toggle?
I have used a mod for one on single player but obviously cant use it for official. Plus, they eventually all become outdated.
Thank you!!
And for all the “play something else then” npcs, this toggle WILL NOT EFFECT YOU AT ALL. We already have an official toggle for those who would prefer to not see nudity (which I personally am fine with and have no issues with someone who prefers to use that toggle).
I’ve played this game since launch and feel I don’t need to explain why I want this. Everyone else has their preferences, this is mine.
If this game didn’t already have toggles, I wouldn’t even bring this up. Just feel it may be a simple addition.
But why?
Just don’t kill in a game if you don’t wanna see gore!
Haha just joking, it is weird to have such toggle since nudity and gore are totally different from each other and can’t be compared except for the partial tech behind it which is a toggle.
Gore is a little bit to be expected in a game like Conan, however… poorly executed.
How to behead someone with an arrow lmao.
Yeah man adding new things is fine for example the toggle in your personalization.
But you can’t really compare adding things to removing things, just saying.
I don’t really know why we can choose nudity yes or no, I kinda like to see the wraps and decency, maybe because of some rules in other countries, but no idea.
Actually, that’s the exact same point I am making, you like to have nudity turned off for your own reasons, even though there is nothing wrong with nudity, its just your preference. Totally okay. Its good to see you enjoy having the option.
You mean the same function?
Yeah sure I see no problem into not having the option to disable gore, if there was a option to disable body parts flying of but keeping the wounds and blood I would most likely use it
I have no issue with your suggestion from a preference standpoint.
But I will suggest that it does affect us for a few reasons and mostly around development time.
They would need to take away from the already overtaxed employees for a very small subset of players to make this change.
Which means instead of barely focusing on bugs (really really bad right now) and further content it would be on a small minority preference.
Another consideration is that this might not even be part of Funcom’s vision.
It’s a completely reasonable suggestion regarding preference imho but maybe not for the allocation of resources.
At least you do have the option of a mod in singleplayer. Additionally if you find a private server you like you can request that the owner implement the mod if they have not already.
It’s because of Americans. In America it’s OK to show to a minor how a person is cut to pieces with a chainsaw.
But a naked breast? O_O !!!
This would surely incite another school shooting… or a civil war… or some other event unseen in other parts of the world.
This one personally supports the idea of a gore toggle or slider.
If for no other reason than the dismemberments are often immersion breaking.
This one killed someone by cleanly slicing their hands off with a Warhammer…
This is a little silly.
Almost slapstick.
On a less snerky level, it makes the game more accessible to more people. This is fine and good. Not everyone likes the same flavour of ultraviolence.
This one knows not how much dev time it would take, but would it be more than the Chapter 3 combat atrocities?
Seems like a good fit if we ever have an Age of Civilization (ancient and wicked).
There is no regulations on what can be shown in a video game dealing with fictional characters. I can publish games in the United States with nudity and sexual content that would likely get you arrested in most other countries if not all of them outside the US. Examples of which are beyond the scope of these forums. Just think of the most vile and evil thing possible. Yeah that’s legal and protected here.
The most evil and vile things I saw on internet were on UK’s and Ukrainian websites.
It seems to be legal there.
But yes I was exaggerating. But it’s a fact that it was American moms crusading that changed entire industry in the 90s. Every school shooting etc was blamed on games.
If the effects linked properly with how and what I hit an enemy with I’d be happy, (as well as gore for every enemy, not just humans) but the randomness of it right now just feels weird. I’d rather toggle it off in its current state myself.
And part of the reason there needs to be a toggle, the effect would need to be removed from Conan in some countries.
Any reasonable request is worth the time.
I’ve been saying for a long time US censors seem to think “exploding blouses bad, exploding chests Ok”. Never understood that reasoning.
Not wrong but
How long have games shown the graphic removal of peoples spines?
How long have there been boobs in video games?
I’m surprised there isn’t a blood color change or off setting already.
You don’t get out much do you?
No it will get you 20 to life.
There’s a word for that, propaganda. Try fact checking, it can be a eye opener.
As in the US military trains soldiers on videos games so they wont hesitate pulling the trigger. They encourage them to play squad shooters for training. video games make better soldiers.
But TV and movies have been teaching kids for years violence is a problem solving tool, it was just never as hands on as video games are.
Violence is the last resort problem solving tool. That’s a cruel fact of our existence.
The problem is making it cool and acceptable to the point of it becoming the only problem solving tool.
There are many forms of violence. Physical violence is just one.
You counter that with good parenting and education.
There’s nothing wrong in being a monster when the situation calls for a monster. That’s what keeps those without the means to be one safe. There’s everything wrong with always being a monster.
Often, the same people who complain about violence are very keen on having others using it to their benefit, when it suits them.
I’ll support a toggle, but as the last thing they do with Conan Exiles before sunsetting. Its not as important as other dev related fixes and new content (especially those that inspire the creativity of the artists and designers).
32 years. Mortal Kombat by Midway, with American Developers.
42 Years. Either Custer’s Revenge, Beat’Em and Eat’Em, or Bachelor Party all came out the same year by American Multiple Industries, another American Company.
Not for a creation involving make believe characters it won’t.
The ETS Range is not a video game. Its a complex set of sensors and lasers using real weapons hooked up to a air compressor to simulate recoil. Its used to improve sight picture, trigger squeeze, and stability. Just a slightly high tech version of what they do at your local shooting range.
The only video game associated with the Army is America’s Army which was used as a recruiting tool and advertisement for the US Army. We are not told to play it and we kinda laughed at people who did since there was better shooters out there (not to say its bad, but its cliche).
When I first got to my unit back in the mid 2000s. My leadership was encouraging me to play City of Villains or some other MMORPG. Because our sergeants and lieutenants were a bunch of nerds.
I have a brother that works with designing simulators for the different branches. But those don’t teach you ‘not to hesitate’. They teach you how to safely service your vehicle mounted weaponry. As for teaching people not to hesitate in combat, no video game is going to teach that. That takes field training, discipline, and most of all comradery. Having an all volunteer service helps too.
Point being more people are effected by blood and gore then the phobias this game triggers. If all it takes is a click to keep people playing that can’t handle the new gore and spatter, they aught to have it.
It kinda isn’t. You’re right about legal aspects, but you’re neglecting the cultural aspects that drive the market.
To illustrate the point: there are many online content platforms that gained popularity thanks to the freedom to post almost anything you want, only to clamp down on anything sexual or even “sexual-adjacent” (for lack of a better word) when they became popular enough to worry about advertisers. Imgur is an excellent example, with moderation that sometimes gets absurd, but they’re not the only ones.
I’m not going to go down the rabbit hole of discussing why American culture is like that, but the effects of it are undeniable.
