I feel the spiders in the game are too weak. Certainly most of the ones that are small and encountered early. They could use a venom buff I think.
They LOOK and MOVE brilliantly, i am terrified playing this game at times, to a level i’m not sure I have experienced in many years gaming. Massive massive chills at times… and I’m not even talking about the larger ones I have yet to face in combat… some day…
I know the smaller ones are supposed to be a bit squishy, and en masse they can be a problem for a basic character, but just feel that they could do with a little more BITE.
No spoilers please (regarding some arachnids I may meet later in my journey) I’m still quite new to the game and I do like surprises.
Spiders used to be crazily overpowered. They had a high respawn rate, all spit venom that caused cripple and also poisoned you. At level 60 with a full inventory of health and set potions you still might not survive the caves. Spiders give me the creeps in RL and in the game lol, but they nerfed them too much.
Their jump attack is good, and they poison too (if I remember correctly). I have no problems with them, they are annoying with these jumps and targetlocked spits, but easy to kill.
Before, running to the demon spider in her cave was a nightmare as mentioned before, but because all of them spat at you and respawned like crazy, not because they are horrifying (for me at least).
I only have one wish tho’: elite/corrupted spiders!
It may also be that it’s only at your level that you’re finding spiders too squishy. At about a player level of 20 spiders are pretty dang deadly (especially if you spent primarily on encumbrance - as so many level 20 or 30 players do) and the gods help you if you get 3 or 4 spiders on you at the same time. But in RP reality what threat should ground spiders have on a mature and capable warrior? And loot therefrom seems appropriately commensurate.
